What's the point of taking Dunedain with RotN available? If you equip the Dunedain with spears like the RotN, they will have the same point cost and exact same profile except RotN has D5 instead of D4.


So is there any point to Dunedain besides preference/aesthetics?

That's exactly it, RotN have better armour so + 1 defense. Apart from that there's absolutely no difference whatsoever. Might be different in War of the Ring but for the normal strategy battle game that's it!

There is a difference, the dunedain get a spear for 1 pt and come up to 25 points with 1 less armor than the Rangers of the north while if you give Rangers of the north spears they cost 26 pts and have 1 more armor for 1 pt.
