Lovely models, can certainly see why everyone is falling in love with the new eagles. And you have done a great job on them!

Hopefully see them on the table someday, since you're only down the road!

Thanks Thermo, as I say I honestly can't rate these models high enough, full marks in every respect for them. And once I've practised with the new monster rules a bit more then I'll be able to wreck havoc on the battlefield with them

Just a very quick update tonight - progress I've been making with the second eagle.

Image
(Please excuse the messy worktop and rubbish picture, better ones will be up tomorrow!)

At first I had this one fully brown and on the flying base, but something just wasn't right about it. A rummage through my scenery box and a short while later, this was the result.

I toyed with the idea of making the rock a bit higher, but in the end it wouldn't be very practical to have a 2ft high mountain constantly moving about on the gaming board

Hope you guys like it, please comment and criticise away, further updates due imminently!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, credit goes to Chris and Dorthonion for helping me choose a second colour scheme. Thanks guys!

Not bad, not bad! A bit yankee maybe but still nice! I do like the idea for the base, well done!

I see lunch for the Spider Queen and Wild Warg Chieftain right there ;)
It looks great knighty! (And I will of course be stealing the idea  (or attempting to)) I really look forwards to seeing this one finished 8) Will you be getting any more eagles in the near future?

It's a really good bit of work buddy, a great advert for the eagles!

I'm seriously considering maybe going halves on the kit with someone... maybe after I've finished the models I've got!

anybody able to give a comparison of these and the new finecast Gwahir model?

Thank you all :)

I haven't bought FineCast Gwaihir yet, a comparison would be interesting to see though. I just prefer the plastic over FineCast now - better material and more cost effective, I'm in no rush for the Lord of the Eagles

Bah, we do not fear those wretched beasts Chris :P another box of eagles is on its way as we speak mate and possibly another one to follow after that 8)

Improved picture as promised.

Wow your eagles really are awesome. Great work on the bases too. Like you said it may be the effect of the photo but the white parts of the eagles look like they could use a little more shading? They're some of the best eagles I've seen yet though, get cracking on that next box :)

Loving the eagle knighty although I regret to inform you I'm gonna have to set my monsters on it  Love the base, much better than what GW supply you with.

Not a photo trick on this second one I'm afraid GD, I've only done the base colours on the eagle itself for now having spent more time on the base for starters. Its an odd way to do a model I know :P

'The Last Shadow' thank you Dorth.

Bah, I say to you what I said to Chris Southy - throw all manner of beasties against my feathered friends, we can handle them 8)

Cheers guys, hearing all your thoughts gives me a real motivation to carry on and means a lot to me :)

Is that a challenge Knighty? My Wargs eat eagles for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and snacks  (whilst my dragon is eaten by eagles  )

The base really does look fantastic knighty! We wants to see more Eagles! :D

Realy nice Eagle :yay:. He looks perched on a mountain edge watching orc marching formations maybe. "To the gate you slugs". I have always prefered the look of bald eagles over any other species and well its great.

Aww, I do love that Eagle, that is an excellent idea. :yay: I'm not too fond of flying stands so I may try out this myself. May. Great painting too 8)

Thank you everyone :)

"To the gate you slugs" I thought more along the lines of "searching for my next dinner"

Yes Chris, yes it is a challenge. Also a rather interesting concept of the food chain you have there... ;)

You've hit the nail right on the head Gothmog, these modifications, especially the second were born out of not being all too happy with the in-flight poses. I will have to have some eagles in a flying pose though :P

Next batch won't be coming up for a while Chris, unfortunately though I now have eagles #3 & 4 they'll have to stay in their box for a while, I simply must finish off my ToS army asap.

Time for another update. My Gondorians aren't quite ready to go on display here yet, but in the meantime I've been working on a little side project that I am happy to share with you all.

Drumroll please...

I present to you...

Project Flappy! (Since Chris already claimed 'Fluffy'... *grumblegrumble*)

Never seen anyone "ground" flying beasties that way, I'm impressed. Those eagles look like a great kit to work with.
