Alright, that explains why the Eagles weren't in the February release lot... Under the second box you can see a very thin outline of another picture. I'm thinking finecast clampack.

Which brings us to what's left from the films:

Click to: Show
-Rivendell Knights (pictured in the rule book) *February*

-Armoured Elrond, ft and mtd *February*

-Lindir

-Failcast Great Goblin (pictured in rule book, throwing Goblin) *February*

-Failcast Thorin & Co (pictured in rule book, not sure whether they will be released individually, in pairs/threesomes or all as one)

-Fc Radagast (pictured in rule book, possibly with sled) *February*

-Riderless Wargs (leaked pics taken down from GW's site) *February?*

-Dwarf Grimhammers (pictured in rule book) *February*

-Azog

-Yazneg (pictured in rule book, but no profile. Possibly to be released as Hunter Orc Captain, or not at all)

-Dwarf Warriors of Erebor (similar armour to Grimhammers, but armed with shields and either axes or spears)

-Gundabad Orcs? (simple conjecture based on the Orcs in flashbacks not being Hunter Orcs)

-Thror and possibly Thrain

Anything else I'm missing? Obviously
Click to: Show
Great Spiders, Mirkwood Elves, Thranduil and Smaug will be for the next film.

Finecast Thorin's company??? I'm going to have to comb the book again for those pictures. Did they look better then the box set plastic dwarves?

With all of these releases I'm leaning more and more towards skipping the box set. Only one I'm really missing out on is The Scribe.

Probably $70 for a normal eagle and $75 for Gwaihir.
(of course this is my money pinching side speaking)

I certainly hope not, as you got THREE Trolls for a similar price!

They look like decent poses; some I like more and some less. The plastic Company are gorgeous models, I've just painted Gandalf, Gloin, Balin and Bombur up alongside a finecast Dwarf banner bearer, 6 metal Dwarves and 8 plastic and I must say they are miles better than the plastic Dwarves and quite a bit ahead of the Rangers.

That said, I don't like finecast all that much and the potential price worries me. I'm figuring that the Company will be at least $120 Canadian (based on the White Council being $90) and the Great Goblin will be about $50 (based on a Troll Chieftain being roughly $45.) I'm figuring it like this:

Rulebook: $100
"Fine"cast Thorin & Company: $120
"Fine"cast Bilbo: $20ish
"Fine"cast Gandalf: $20 (based on 1/4 of the White Council)
"Fine"cast Great Goblin: $50
2 boxes of Goblins: $80
2 "Fine"cast Goblin Captains: $40
Radagast: $15 (when they put the plastic one out as a clampack)
Half of Goblin Town: $35 (being generous, as it's more like 70%)
Total: $480

versus:

Limited Edition Escape from Goblin Town: $150
The Hobbit Journey book (for profiles and points): $40
Total: $190

Mathematically it works out heavily in favour of the EfGT set, provided you're after everything inside. Honestly though, I'm expecting the Thorin and Company FC set to be within $10-20 of the starter.

I might do a tad better as a friend wants to split the set and just keep the Dwarves and Radaghast. I'll have to look at the finecast Dwarves first though. It has been getting a lot better in quality lately.

They are plastic. The Gwaihir box has the gold finecast band at the bottom, the eagles don't.

There are 3 variations of eagle in the Hobbit book, but the box looks to house 2 models based on the width of the logo. Must be able to assemble them in different ways.

Just like the trolls, I'm sure there will be enough parts to make 1.5 eagles, which means every time you buy one you waste 1/3rd of the box. I wish they'd just sell troll bodies in a separate kit or something.

TBH the individual price of the Trolls from the Hobbit aren't that bad. It was the forcing of purchasing all three that makes it so hard to swallow. Likewise, I wish the Eagles would be individual but it really sounds like they're going to force the twin pack purchase price.

If they are single-packs with variety of options like the plastic Mordor / Isengard trolls or the plastic Ents then I'm actually going to be a little more happy...if they kept the price in check.

Where did you get that information from?

I wonder what riddles in the dark will consist of? 20 quid for 2 models seems outragous

Well, if those eagles turn out to be too expensive, there's always this model from ebob miniatures (for only 12 pounds):

I'm rather surprised that the Great Eagles are so 'cheap' (by GW standards). :-D I'd been expecting something along the lines of 40 pounds, 30 is quite acceptable, IMO, if the box really contains enough pieces for two eagles. If it's just one and a lot of useless leftover bits, then count me out! :-X

ebob's is really nice for sure. The Gamezone Great Eagles come in at less than $30 USD, are metal and have very dynamic poses as well.

A GW plastic for much over $30 is just not competitive unless you MUST have a GW version for some reason (tournament play for example). In many case you give up some PJ/LotR theme to get a different company's work (ebob and ukFB not included!) but to be honest an eagle is an eagle and as long as the scale is correct you can go with about anything.

Looks like I was spot on with the Eagles, I think I need a warband of 2+, lead by Radagast. I think I'll miss out on the Fell Wargs, I prefer the LotR design for both Wargs and riders, and £20 for two hobbits? Thats a new low.

Isn't it 10 quid for the Goblin Captain? I'm hoping this set will include Gollum's boat and a bit of scenery and maybe even
Click to: Show
the Goblin who attacks Bilbo and Gollum then eats
but maybe that's being a tad too hopeful.

I hope there is scenery. Otherwise, you can get both models elseware for a fraction of the price.

£30 for 2 eagles is definitely fine for me.
I shall be buying at least 2 boxes and Gwaihir for an army.

I've been waiting for so long for plastic Eagles!!!
