Thanks guys.

I'm glad the king looks good to you. He started out as just a normal zulu warrior and I just added all that stuff to him (using the GW one as inspiration).

I'll be painting them very soon so watch this space, but in the mean time i'll try and post some pics of some osgiliath veteran conversions that I am painting.

Cool conversions and awesome idea, but I'm still not sold on the precpt of using Zulus as villians. Especially since I always cheered on them when I watched that film. That said, the models have enough of a Mahud-esque quality, especially when you have incorporated elements of actual LotR models.

I'm using them because I in visage the Mahud race to be of a black complexion and live in a climate and lifestyles similar to African tribes. The zulu's were the best (quality and price wise) for the job.

The men of Harad aren't villains. They just share a common enemy with Sauron.

I agree on complexion etc but if you ally yourself with a villain, then you are, by default, a villain, just not an evil one.
Price is of course, a most valid reason, and add that with your conversions its okay, I just still...

Not meaning to criticise you personally of course, your WIP is one of the best.

Thanks man.

Ok guys, here is a quick update of my converted osgiliath veterans. They are obviously not finished.

I've tried to make them look really individual.
Of course, when you're toughing it out in a ruined city for weeks or months on end, you can't be expected to wear the same clothes the whole time. These guys have been sent some spare clothes from home.

Each of them has a pink handkerchief on them somewhere. I have created the backstory that women will give their husbands pink handkerchieves to take with them to war.

Here are all the veterans together

The converted spearman is wearing a Gondorian flag. I am yet to paint the tree and the stars onto it though.

I like the veteran sculpts and have seen plastic WoMT converted to vets using greenstuff. I like the idea behind the token (handkerchief) - it certainly happened in medieval times and Tolkien mentioned a variety of items of familial or cultural significance carried by troops of various races/nations in Middle-earth.

Thanks guys.
Here's another update. The veterans are finished. Pics included. The mahud army is being slowly painted. No pics of them yet.
Also, I have a box set of the new Orc Hunters on Fell Wargs, so get excited because I'll be starting on them soon.

Here are the finished Veterans. I am very pleased with them.

Hi the painting is good, but I really don't like the colour scheme...
Very nice conversions though!

Haha thanks.

You don't have to like the colour scheme. They are wearing a mismatch of military uniform and spare civilian clothes from home. Not really dressed for fashion.

woaahhh fantastic! I love these! I like the color scheme, makes them look worn & as if they've been scratching a living from what is available. The conversions have gone really well too - well done. I wish I had some now

Looks good. The Spearman seemed a little unnaturally posed at first, but these angles make him look much better. Where did you get the heads from?

Thanks man. Yeah the spearman looks a bit awkward in certain photos. He also looks a little awkward when positioned with other miniatures, so I have to spend A bit of time trying to get him to fit in. I do like the position though.

The heads came from the Wargames Factory Viking Huscarls box set.

http://www.wargamesfactory.com/webstore ... g-huscarls

A very good set which I will be using for Warriors of Rohan.

Ok gang, a few new things to show you.

Firstly, here's a quick look at the new Orc Hunters on Fell Wargs. These guys are absolutely great miniatures. There is plenty of variety when assembling them and the detail is incredible.

Now Here are a few shots of some of my Mahud guys. Their skin is finished but it is so dark that it does not show well in photos. It's the first time I have painted really dark African skin, and I think it turned out ok.

I have also started assembling my Wargames Factory orcs, which I will be using for Mordor Uruk Hai.

Can't wait to see what you do with the hunter orcs, I'm not sold on the design yet. I realized if you painted them blue they'd look like Navi from Avatar and can't shake that image
