I just started work on my goblins. I've primed all of them skull white, and I started with the skin, for which I've used just a simple Reikland Fleshshade wash.
Here are a few WIP shots:

So there was no base colour before the wash? interesting. Might have to try that, they look good.

Yep, just a wash.

Here are 12 finished goblins:

I was just painting the Great Goblin, only the basing left to do for him.

Please tell me what you think!

Another picture of my goblins:

(I apologise for the bad lighting)
And the Great Goblin:

Both taken with my phone, so the quality isn't exactly good.

Right, so a small update:

Gandalf:

Bilbo:

I'm not really pleased with Bilbo's shiny jacket. I used the old blood red for it, but the paint was really watery and shiny. Oh well.

Looking good. Is the bilbo out of the escape from goblin town set armed with a sword or a stick? because on the GW page he has a stick.

You have the option to choose between a walking stick or sting, both are supplied.

I did my goblins just about the same (with the wash), but it looks like you gave them also a layer os some other color? They look nice (als the companions!).

I gave the great goblin a few layers after the wash (a few mixes of elf flesh, ushabti bone and a little bit of mournfang brown), but the other goblins are just washed.

Another update:
Firstly, I painted the goblin town walkways:
Image

I also finished twelve more goblins and Grinnah the Goblin:
Image

I made this terrain board, but halfway through I ran out of static grass. :-X Oh, well...
Image

I also did Bombur:
Image
I think he turned out OK, but now that I see the picture, his trousers look quite sloppy... :x I can assure you it looks better in real, natural light though.

Of all the dwarves I've painted so far, I think this is my favourite one, Bofur:
Image

Of course, comments and constructive criticism would be very much appreciated!

the painting looks great on those figures :-)
maybe it would be nice to put a bit more variation in the gaming board? add some sand between the grass ? Or something else perhaps?

Bofur turned out really nice!
About Bombur, on really close pics, almost every miniature out there seems "sloppy" at places. Unless you are aiming for competition standards, there's no need to worry, especially on a 28mm mini. 8)

And if you think about it in your sleep, well, you can always come back and repaint the part that bothers you

Right, only after a VERY long time I finally finished things worthy of posting. I did manage to paint some non-LOTR related stuff, but I don't think I should post that here. This year has proved quite unproductive so far, I'm afraid. Anyway, I painted Bifur:

And I painted this mounted witch-king. He's from the winged nazgul box, with a metal horse added:

and I made some trees:

Comments would be appreciated!

I like what you have done! 8)

Some suggestions for the terrain.

Dried out coffee and tea grounds will make the flocking go further.
Hair spray will help the lichen stay on the trees. It is also a substitute for spray glue.

Image

Jennie, 5 years old, is making a wire brush tree using hair spray and home made saw dust flocking. I made her a hand crank wire tree maker so I would not have to worry about her using power tools when I am not helping.

Image Image Image Image

I made the lichen tree the same way you did but I added the extra step of adding more flocking to the lichen. I used Woodland Scenic fine green for the lichen tree. The wire brush trees are made with home made saw dust flocking.

Well Done 8) I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Thank you, Oldman Willow. Your trees look nice, so thanks for the suggestions on the trees. :)
