@Bartelomeus; Cheers man, your comment is much appreciated. Ah you should have, it's great fun to incorporate both.

@garmenhord: Thank you man :D It isn't for LotR, as Dorth has noticed but it does look like it could fit. Ahhh orcs.. always so good at demolishing things lol.

@Sticky Fingersss: Thanks!

@ukfreddybear: Thank you, this isn't actually intended for my board - but hopefully I'll be able to use it (depending if I have space to take it back home).

@MacGothmog: Cheers mig! :D I'm glad you like it - and yeah I've had 1 day to make this thing. The fastest model I've made before.

@SidTheSloth: Thanks man!

@Dorthonion: Cheers dude, and yes your right there. Middle-Earth architecture is Romanesque whilst gothic is much later. However this is for my univeristy course which had to be related to gothic architecture - as that's what I'd chosen.

@BucklandBrewer: Thanks man :) nice to see you around

@Crucium Giger: Thank you

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Well because this model is due for tomorrow I've had to work my ass off so that it's completed. I'm proud to say it's now finished! and this is certainly the fastest I've made a model before. I've got a bunch of pictures, so tell me what you think.

Wow great job with the details! The gothic side structures definitely add character and look suitably Gondorian :)

I have been wondering what it needs as the ultimate finishing touch and then I realised: Gargoyles. Gothic means gargoyles. Gotta have gargoyles somewhere on it. Or failing that, a couple of small skulls - not plastered in them. You have to take into account that a lot of gothic construction in Europe was taking place at the same time as plagues (Black Death etcetera) and numerous, long drawn out wars, so deathly images featured a lot on religious buildings.

@Red Corsair: Thanks man, your comment is always much appreciated! :D

@DMS: It's come together nicely huh? and not to mention fast.

@lordenkenbrand: Cheers mate, I'm glad you like it. Yeah despite being gothic it still fits not too bad.

@Dorthonion: That's a super idea man! You know what, I've seen these gargoyles on Thomarllion that I've been eying up for some time. http://www.thomarillion.de/index.php?se ... prache=gb_

@SidTheSloth; Thanks dude (refraining from using huge amount of smiles is a good idea :lol: ). It's made out of foamboard.

@Sacrilege83: Thank you!

@Wah Whing: I'm humbled that you think that :)

Brilliant stuff. I think that would fit in perfectly well as a Gondor building. It might be interesting as a library actually, seeing as a religious interior for middle-earth would be tougher to do.

Hopefully you will get time to paint it or build something else :)

@CaptainoftheWhiteTower: Thank you :) That's not a half bad idea, i might just do that!

On a side note, I've started a new project which at the moment I'm researching into - but I'll be building another model in the next week or two - around the same size & detail again. It'll most likely be a Romanesque building this time - so it'll fit better but we'll see where my research takes me.

Keep an eye out for more to come!

You have been eyeing up gargoyles? Well... what can I say? I was scolded for eyeing up women... :P
Thomarillion stuff is good! I have lots but not painted... and no gargoyles in case anyone is wondering. No women either....

Some more work from recently... I know the roof should have a dome, but I didn't have any round polystyrene balls.

I see what you are aiming at here. But Romanesque walls are thick and towers /spires would need internal walls or thick pillars to carry the load of such a height. Half domes of polystyrene can be had from many hobby stores - I use 4Dmodelshop as they have.. well everything.

Very impressive building work! These remind me of Ninja's Osgiliath Ruins articles, very well thought out and finished to a high spec. I'd hire you any day lol

Can you post a shot of them all arrayed together in one scene?
