Thanks folks and finished Legolas for now. For some reason I was sure the trousers were a green colour, when in the film they were actually simply slightly more grey than the shirt.

Nice work on Legolas! The skin looks fantastic! 8)
The hair seems a little flat though.

About time I resumed this now the weather is improving. I finished Gimli some time ago to complete the Fellowship. Now I've got some Ringwraiths and Orcs that I'm trying to get done, as well as revisiting the Rohirrim I did on page 1.

Thanks Harfoot.

Just knocked out the Ringwraiths as they're pretty quick ones to do. I have the missing pose but the sword is broken at the hilt so I'll have to deal with that another time.

and Gollum who has been half finished for about 5 months. Struggled to get to grips with the hair on this one.

Isildur and Elendil are currently W.I.P.

Finished Elendil and Isildur:

Tom Bombadil is my next model, proving so far to be one of the more fun to paint models, probably because its an opportunity to use brighter colours.

If you get some dark brown and water it down, then apply around the sides of his tunic, it will make that round belly stick out further.

Thanks for the feedback. I did actually give the tunic a wash with brown ink but I probably overdid it when I reapplied the Bestial Brown. I would've liked to have had a go at the red cheeks as you did but fear that I would probably ruin the whole face.

Ok then - painting the cheeks - I use a paint medium with all my colours. It helps keep the pigment intact when you thin the paint.
I mixed blood and scab red in equal parts then added two drops of medium and watered to 10 parts water 1 part paint.
Now load your brush and wipe off the excess. I wipe my brush on newspaper to test the paint thickness and how much paint I have on the brush. You should have a transparent paint with a hint of red on your newspaper with absolutely no extra paint on the brush.
Now hold your brush so the flat contacts the cheek, not the tip. Now draw the brush toward the nose from the outside of the cheek.
You will need to repeat this several times but you will slowly see the red blush build up until you are happy. It's important to draw the brush this way as you draw the pigment to where the stroke stops i.e. near the nose.
