I hope you don't object to a little bit of idea-stealing :-D . Those dwarf mines are brilliant!

No, no not at all! In fact, I'd feel honoured if people would use this idea and would make something similar. :) The only thing I ask in return is that you would kindly update us sometimes on the site with your progress haha! ;)

Welcome to the One-Ring, Koen!

If memory serves me well you made a very impressive 3D map of Gondor a few years ago?
(Gave me some ideas of my own… :D )
Now I would love to see it again. Any chance of posting a picture of the map – for example in this thread?
(I wish I'd made a copy when I first saw the article... )

Cool! 8)

@lotrscenerybuilder: thanks! You're right, I did make that 3D map. I made one Gondor Map (also featuring Edoras, Dunharrow, Minas Morgul and the Black Gate) and one Harad map (going as far as Umbar).
Here they are:

I also made an article on how I made the map on the old TLA and I uploaded it again on the new TLA. This is the article: http://thelastalliance.com/wordpress/wp ... n-Maps.pdf
I made this some years ago, so the style of writing is not so well I think. I should re-write it sometime..

EDIT: cool to see you're still active by the way! I remember your own awesome terrain projects. Your site has been a great inspiration to me.

Here's a late: Welcome Back!

had made this account about 2 years ago, but I didn't use it since. Now with the new look, it seemed like the timing was right to become active here too!

Some of you who are active on The Last Alliance might already know me from there (where my username is just Fëanor). I've been active there for many years (since 2004 I think, back before the crash).

So the new look does make a difference! Now maybe we'll steal more active members from TLA or persuade more of that new blood coming in from The Hobbit film era to join our ranks first!

Very nice dwarven mines terrain btw! And great looking M-E map you made also. I check up on TLA from time to time, but I prefer the topics over here for some reason. I know TLA is updating their site slowly but surely, getting ready for the new wave of films. It took Dago a while to fully renovate O-R and return it back to its original form or even better form! Now he's almost 100% finish. So it would be nice to see TLA with its own style removed from the generic phbb form when it comes.

Just a question Feanor - do you know how the stuff you use in your (great) article is called in Dutch? Simple polystyrene foam (the bubbly stuff) is driving me absolutely mad. It keeps breaking when it's not supposed to.

Sorry for the late reply guys, didn't check this topic for some time.

@ martinusv: cheers! I'm also waiting to see myself working on the mines again. No, wait, I'm waiting to see them finished! The sheer amount of work is just so un-motivating, especially since I only have time to work it 2 or 3 weekens per month (and there are more things I want to do on the weekends). And besides, I'm working on some 10 other fairly big projects too (and there are even more of them in my head).
So, long story short, I need more time. :)

@ Sacrilege83: thanks! Much appreciated. :) The site here looks a lot better, yes. I would love to see TLA back in it's former glory too though!

@ Telchar: haha, yeah the normal white polystyrene is only ever useful in some cases, not for making rock faces. You can use it as the big structure of something but not much else.
Anyway, the blue stuff is called 'Roofmate' as far as I'm aware in Dutch (and it seems to be used to in English). I love working with it: it's very dense and has a very nice texture if you snap it off.
