I really like your Haradrim. They are well painted, and the yellow is quite a good, if unusual choice, I also like the more realistic choice of skin colour than GW and most others.

You deserve a few :yay: :yay: 's.

Well said!
Love the skin tones, the choice of colors, etc...really great work!

Thanks guys. There will probably be no updates until the middle of Agust-ish as I am at camp for the next three weeks, though I will probably pop in on the weekends to check up.....But I will be too busy sleeping to do hobby work.

.....And back from the depths of page three. :D

I did some more work on the haradrim this afternoon. I'm back to doing groups of them, this time ten. The metal is done (though I missed some parts and will go back and get them....) the skin and eyes are also done. The cloaks just have a basecoat on, and some is spotty at that.

Thanks. And painting from a white basecoat is not that hard. In fact, for these guys, it's definitely easier. I don't fancy painting white cloth over a black basecoat. :o

If you're doing a light colour scheme you should try it out. With your skill at painting I really doubt that you would miss spots and have bits of white lying around.....

Maybe for the next painting challenge, try white? I dare you! :P

Really cool Haradrim! All these threads are getting me pumped, but there are sooo many models in my backlog and so few hours in a day. New seasons of TV starting this week and next takes chunks out of my painting time as well :-X

Well, not finished, but progress.

And thanks for the kind words everyone, it really encourages me to keep going. :D
I have a small update today. I got two highlights onto four of the six guys. I would have finished the other two, but I had work to do... ;) I think I will do one more highlight after this one to really make them 'pop'; but tell me what you think.

I got some colour shapers. :D And wow, are they different than a hobby knife! They 'give' a lot more, which makes moving putty a whole lot harder. However, smoothing the putty and getting nice texture is way easier. Like a wet pallette, I would highly recommend them.

So what am I using said shapers to shape? Well, I have been looking for suladan for quite some time, but have not been able to find one that fits my budget. (I'm not paying $45 or whatever it is for him in finecast) So I decided to sculpt him.

Here is my armature with a bit of the underlying structure bulked out. It seems he is a bit short, so I only left a little nub for the head to attach to, which should bring him up to the same height as the normal warriors. At this point I think I will keep the back banner idea GW has, which also makes him bigger and taller. It will make him instantly recognizable, and I'm keeping the banners on the raiders, so why not suladan too? I carved out a couple of swords, I like how they look, though the handles might be trimmed down a bit if they are too long. I will also need to trim the handles down so they are small enough to fit into his hand.....Why two swords? Well, I'm not just making a foot guy, I'm doing the mounted one as well!
I'm using a horse from the mounted minas tirith standard bearer. That figure was glued on with way too much super glue, and the horse's ankle broke from the heavy metal rider, so it has some work to do. The tail was also almost broken off, so I broke it all the way, and have now repaired it.

On to the pictures!

Very brave taking on such a sizeable sculpting project. I wish you luck and look forward to seeing how you progress.

Best of luck with the sculpting. I like the painted troops - the white undercoat looks great and has me wondering about a tribe of Haradhrim with a pale, linen coloured paint scheme. I have the weirdest notion that I saw photos of an army painted that way some years ago...
