Goblin Town river bridge

Image

I will feather the edge and add more dark black green to the deep water. Then comes the hard part.
I will have to leave it alone for a week so that I can be sure it is dry enough for water effects.

Image
Finished with spray gloss varnish. I would like to see what some of the really good painters could do with the crystals

Thanks
They are from Halloween candy molds.
I made them last year for the Halloween Village. The larger section was made from a candle I made a latex mold of.

Thanks.

I cut these too short. They don't have chain saws in Middle Earth. the next ones will look like they were cut with an ax.

Image

I am going to add more wooden parts to Goblin town after seeing some still shots from the movie.

Goblin Town is really coming into shape. How about a picture with miniatures for scale?

I did not get a chance to work on it today. The river is far from finished and the bridge does not have a base yet.
I need to make some more floor sections so this is still very much a wip. I used the Wizard photos for scale.

Thanks for the nice comments.

I put a layer of varnish in the river. and added a pin to the bridge.
But mostly I finished up trees. The wire tree jig is a big hit. Hair spray is safe enough to let the children make their own trees.

I always cut out extra for the kids to do. Well done for 5

Thanks

I put the first coat of Minwax clear gloss on the river. It did not turn out well there are a lot of air bubbles. I need to add several more coats.
You can see the shrinkage and the air bubbles in the section on the right.

Image

A small foot bridge also from Hirst Blocks.
The shrinkage is near the seam on the right. I will need to check what Minwax recommends as a thinner before the next coat.

Image
I takes more patience because of the long drying time but the Minwax can be sanded and repaired like good furniture finish.

Next big project a new rock back ground for the Misty Mountains or Thermopylae
Image
I think the One foot high hill will be tall enough for the Dwarf Wars mammoth to look good.
Image
The movement trays are 10"X2" That should be enough room for WHAB. The 1'X1" will let you curve the clift around for a larger battle feild if you want.
I am going to cut 4 for the large box and 3 for the small box for my set.

Image

My brother wants to build a Thermopylae Battle field that he can take to conventions. However, he does not have a truck. So the problem is how to make it so that it fits in a car. The solution is to build it so that it fits in a box that will fit his car trunk. I am going to cut two 1 foot by 8 foot section of 2 inch pink insulation foam from a 4'X8' sheet and then cut sections that fit the boxes he picks out. I am going to use the plastic boxes I purchase from Walmart I use for my trees for my new sections.. I Need more tall back drop sections for Moria and Goblin Town and this years Christmas village. So I am going to cut it from one sheet. I used the Lemax Christmas village hills to plain the lay out

This is the beginning of a bone bridge for the Halloween Game.
I am also going to have to build a custom mold for a up coming project.
So I started that.

I cut some pink foam blocks to help me visualize how I was going to make the long rope bridges work. The bridges are very heavy. I will add a plaster facade but I will use a thick wooden core instead of the pink foam.
I am making some custom molds for my up coming Middle Earth projects.
