does the bark chip/crumble over time?

It can but it is free  I might have to repaint it after three or four years. The five year old has broken a piece or two. I really have not had much trouble.
One of my friends dips the pine bark in house paint. PVA will work too. It will last a very long time after that.

Ah yeah, sealing it with something is a good idea. Thanks!

One guy who gave me quite a heap of fossils told me to seal them by using a mixture of glue and something else (dunno what it was - made the glue get sucked into the fossil and vaporated later), u need to repeat the process after some years (for the fossils), otherwise those things might turn into dust. So i think it might be the same for this stuff, repeat it after some years. Dunno how long it would take tough. Still haven't done a 2nd seal on my fossils so far.

I think that might be a flow extender. The sort of thing people mix with their paints.

Think of the bark like any other thing made of wood. You can use wood glue or sealer with it. Even floor polish and wax. It should last for years.
A note on collecting bark from rotting stumps. It will have all kinds of bugs in it. A few seconds in the micro wave will take care of that. Wash it well and don't use the rotten parts. The processed pine bark from garden centers is from trees that have been made into paper. Rot will not be a problem because it was cut from green trees. Buy chunks in stead of strips if you live were pines don't grow.

It is nothing to take credit for. The product has iron in it. It is real rust. I have used it for railroading and some model work. It can turn out nice.
Thanks for the reply :!:

There are some small cast parts for a set 25 years OOP and a few Dwarven Forge parts from the river set. I use the HR as a supplement for DF
Most of the parts in the photos were cast from HR molds. The curved curtain wall is from the DF river set.

Image
The Lake parts I made with the DF lake and River set. The curtain wall on top is DF. They are all separate parts.
You can also see bark clifts and some Lemax Christmas decorations that have been repainted.

this is an early dry stack of HR parts when I was working out the lake.

Looking amazing OMW!
You should totally wire in some LED lights into the gemstones somehow.

OMW - Your terrain manages to both sicken me and astound me both at the same time if that is at all possible. I am sickened with envy as it is truly magnificent work and astounded at the level of detail and depth to your work. I love this thread, a true inspiration.

Woah, That is looking great. Nice touch with Gollum sculking about on the rocks near the pool.
