Spiders webs look great! The only thing i would add is some spiders :-D
Good idea for that pot - i bet with some more paint it will look perfect

I picked up a product that has iron particles in it. After it drys for 12 hours I will be able to apply the oxidizer.
Real rust :!:

Image

I added the 6mm static grass to the bases and the tree section. I use pva to attach the trees to the base.
The magnets will allow me to use the section with other detail parts.

Image

I applied the 6mm grass to the Hobbit House. I need some more colors and a little more practice.

I think the tree could use smaller branches too. That hobbit house looks great! 8)

The static grass looks very good. I don't know how to use it. Can you give some tips?

My tips
http://www.amazon.com/Realistic-Railroa ... 0890244707
I have all three additions of this book
Use a sifter to apply static grass and fine and medium flocking. I think it works better than a pair of tweezers. The static grass will stand up on it's own. I admit not as well as with an static grass applicator. I used an applicator for the Hobbit house.
Use lots of colors

This is the guy that originally suppled Bilbo's Trolls and the Fallen Head I have posted before from the scene where Boromir tried to steal the ring from Fordo near Amon Hen. He was told that he wasn't able to continue to produce either of them due to them being to close to the staues in the film.... Shame....

No . I wish I had decided to build that kind of business. I met Dave at a Railroad show. I am a customer but I have been promoting that book for a long time. The book is my number one tip.

I painted the pot with the rust finish. You can see it on the left. It takes a few days to work. It is turning brown now. I will post a progress photo tomorrow.
I worked on jigs for wire brush trees and dowel rod pines this afternoon. I still have to finish the power drill wire jig but I built a hand cracked version so the girls could use it for jewelery making too.

Image

I included a nail brush as part of the wire hold down on the Power drill template but I did not have enough small nails. The nail brush will be used to make the bark texture on the dowel rod tree trunks. I need some large pine trees.
I used the nail brush on the craft stick to texture wooden doors. It will work better with a few more nails.
I also made some wood weathering solution you can see it is turning the craft stick gray.

I like using the hand cranked wire tree maker. It is a bit slower but very easy to control

I am going to make 25 brush trees then switch to pines.

Here is a photo of the ping pong ball caldrin and the wooden bowl . The rust effect is still working it takes some time.

Image

The jute string makes very fluffy trees. I think I will try some tall grass with it too.
To make hedge cut one side off of the brush before you flock it.

Fantastic looking trees! 8) Do you spray the wire before applying the flock?

I do. Some people dip the wire brush armature into a mixture of 50/50 PVA and water and add flocking. I think it takes less flocking to paint them first. I also use hair spray to attach the flocking

Fantastic work on those trees! One question about using pine bark for rocks (you may have had this already), but does the bark chip/crumble over time?

It can but it is free  I might have to repaint it after three or four years. The five year old has broken a piece or two. I really have not had much trouble.
One of my friends dips the pine bark in house paint. PVA will work too. It will last a very long time after that.
