U sure got lots of stuff in ur Garage. Those branches look really good for trees, looks like an old spooky forest.

OMW - I like the frames you have there for your trees - really knarled and sppoky looking. Can I ask a question - when using actual twigs and cut offs to form trees do you have to do anything to them other than dry them out ? or just dry them out and they are usable straight away?

Some times I have to make sure that the insects and eggs are dead. I dry the pine bark and dead fall in the oven. The spooky looking trees are trimmed hedges. I cut them green and let the leaves fall off. I saved the ones I wanted and put the rest in the chipper. Ivy vines are best cut green and dried. I like black walnut dead fall best. I just leave it on the brush pile and get it when I need it. The short answer is you can often use it strait away. Sadly if it fell off the tree it may be to rotten to use.

That is really great space, Charlie. It is also great to see the next generation of game is being groomed from an early age. Thanks for the advice on the wood that you use as it makes a lot sense ~Brian

It is hard to see what is in some one head when they are working on a lay out. I need at least two more trees.
Image
I am going to make some fall colored flock from saw dust to give this some more color.
Image
I am going to build a ruined stair way from Hirst blocks to improve this effect. I am going to order a few more molds as well.
I am going to need Mediterranean style roof tiles for Dale.
Image
I am going to use the new large cobblestone mold for the path and create a better contrast with warm browns.
Let me know what you think.
If any on sees some good clips from the production videos of something I should use let me know.

Super work Charles! Those tree's look fantastic, are they twigs? Will you be adding foliage - however it might dull the spooky effect adding foliage. Some scattered leaves on the base, and maybe a cobweb or two might add some extra spookiness. Keep the updates coming.

I have to pick up some Halloween cobwebs I am out. The trees are hedge clippings I have been saving.

I have already made a number of sections for Goblin Town
Image
I made the path road sections detachable.
Image
I need to make some clap board sections like in the production videos. Some battery powered Tea candles will make the light effects.

 There is not much craftsmanship in drilling a hole in MDF and gluing down a stick but I would like to motivate people to create better tables.
I am a component technician. I am probably the go to person for how to make terrain but I do not have a eye for color. Some suggestions from some of artist on this site would be very helpful.

Maybe you can use spray cans for your spooky trees? I would spray them grey and black, in a camouflage pattern (just hold a strip of cardboard – or a piece of cardboard with a hole in it - between the spray nozzle and the tree to create ‘patches’). Next, use white and/or (fluorescent?) green spray paint to ‘highlight’ some branches – not too much, just a shade on some parts. Even with big cans you can achieve subtle effects. Start with gentle puffs, add more paint until you are satisfied with the result.

By using filler or green stuff you can give the tree trunks a gnarled look. I think you should try to avoid smooth surfaces; it’s the effect of light & shadow that brings a model (tree, building, :legolas: ...) to life. Ivy on the trunks and Drumsticks cobwebs and fallen leaves might do the rest.

Can’t give you any sound brush advice  as I have always worked with cans (even on the hobbit holes). The first three or four years of my LSB-career I only used three colors: grey, black and white. Not the flat paints but the ‘cast iron’ and primer versions.

Worth a try?

Sound Advice, Thanks.
Did you use a static applicator on the grass on the Hobbit holes :!:
