The problem with it is going to be siege ladders.

We have played a few test games and had some fun. I will post the rules on a thread here. The aim was to try and keep the fast flow of WotR intact while still simulating the main features of siege warfare, 'scope creep' keeps rearing its head when we to try and make things unambiguous (hear that GW?) yet account to for the 'special cases' - Battering Rams for instance.... ever seen many in a general Wotr Game? These clearly should have extra abilities in a siege context.

Anyway in essence the paradigm was:
1. A fort or castle is considered as a number of linked but discrete defensible terrain features.
2. Breaching gates or walls etc uses a version of the H2K VH2K and EH2K tables with each defensible terrain type given a 'Resilience' and a 'Defence' factor
3. Siege ladders cost 5 points and 1/formation. Once erected they stay up unless destroyed by defenders, Once up other formations can use them to climb onto walls or towers.
4. Some special rules were added to simulate fighting on walls or in towers... i.e. losing a fight doesnt push defenders off the 'terrain' like in normal battlefield defensible terrain. This gets a bit intense, but rightly so if a formation of Uruks get on your walls everything neraby will want to try and push them off again. In practice seemed to work fine so far
5. Some rules added for Siege equipments.. rams, trebuchets, bolt throwers, as well as sappers and the effects some spells have on defensible terrain.

So far we found about a 1.5:1 points ratio (attacker:defenders) seemed reasonable.

We hope to recreate Helms Deep in a very large game over the summer.
