Hi

I have a 1000 point battle this afternoon and I am taking Angmar
Have Buhdur, wild warfare chief with wild warhol and loads of orcs.
Now I fancy fielding either or both:
1. Gulhavar
2. Shade
Does anyone have experience with them and can give me some guidance on how or when to use them!?

Many thanks

Both are excellent, Gulavhars draw back is low defence and no fate so one good round of opponents shooting and/or volley fire and he could die in aturn as once happened to me
having said that if he can get into combat he can be destructive with S8, 4A if not wounded
Shade is a personal favourite, chill aura can be so devestating with a horde army such as orcs, D8 is good but make sure you can protect him don't let him get into combat with such a weak Fight value he will lose quickly, and 3 wounds 0 fate is real bad,
with both could consider a shadow lord within 6 " makes for nullifying any stray shots except bloody Legolas :x
good luck let is know what you used how you went

Getting the Shadowlord on fell beast would GREATLY help your army. The shade is one of the best units in the game. Take it. Gulavhar should be good as long as he can get into combat with minimal injuries. If he gets injured before he can reach combat, use some magic from the SL to make sure he gets some kills.
Gulavhar should be deadly if used right (if you use him in conjunction with the SL then they can destroy everything). Use heroic fights to slingshot into heroes. (ie, if the hero is out of range, move into a combat that is closer, then heroic fight into the hero. I do this all the time with my dragon, it allows you to attack heroes over 18 inches away :D, plus, your flying, so almost nothing can block your path)
I also recommend taking 1 bat swarm to follow Gulavhar (or the SL) around to help with heroes or to block people. you dont want Gulavhar/ SL getting swarmed.

long story short: the Shadowlord on fell beast is amazing, the shade is amazing, if u can use Gulavhar well then he is also amazing :)

Shade is great. With Gulavar the few times I've played with him I've found it helpful to have him covered by a bat swarm. This protects him from archery, and is very useful against mega heroes.

I agree with whafrog and shadowswarm, never take Gulavhar without at least 1 (preferebly 2-3 at high pts) Bat Swarm (s).

Thanks guys - I played the battle... Will write the report up soon if I get a chance! Needless to say I was reluctant to send him forward and held him back, but when he went in :-) he also looks good on the table!

Thanks again
