I just bought a Finecast Sauron for a silly list idea for Bilbo's Birthday Bash 2012 (600 points 6 games, 3 as good, 3 as evil) and it was nearly perfect. Only flaws. A minor bubble that was covered by shoulder armor and a foot that was pulling a "toe-pick" that needed to be straightened out.

@StickyFingerssss, I found the same problem with metal Easterling spearmen.

I have collected GW models for nearly 30 years, I never got a defective metal figure. The few finecast figures I have purcased were all defective including the replacement figures. So I am not going to buy any more. It took 3 weeks for GW to replace my beast with another substandard figure. No more. I am done with Fail cast. :-X

All Great Beasts are the same Mr Willow, you can't blame every thing else on that one. If you want a Great Beast, demand your nearest GW to fix it for you. Not that you should have to of course. GW are rather pathetic about this.

You are correct. However, that is not practical for me. I can fix it my self although I should not have to as you already said. :x

I bought all the new miniatures, and all the monsters (great beast, dweller, watcher) were extremely defective.
The watcher and the dweller, I could fix them with some green and disguising painting them.
However, the two haves of the great beast that doesn't fit, that is really lame! I'll go to a GW shop this weekend to ask the seller to explain me how to assembly it right (before doing any 'plastic surgery' in the neck of the poor thing).
For me, Finecast = finecast! (however, for the great miniatures).

If you had read the reviews on the Great beast, you would know that the entire stock of Great Beasts is faulty, you were unlucky with the others.

I bought Elrond & Gil-galad, Ashrak, and Groblog, and they were all fine, I can't even see any bubbles in them :)

What country do you live in? That will affect the kind of service you can expect.

Aye, except for not being able to save Old Paints, they are perfect in our country.

I found the best way to sort the Great Beast problem is to bend its head so it is facing slightly to the right. The two sides will line up quite well then. It's like the curve on a scalextric. The outside track is longer than the inside but it fits together nonetheless. Trying to put it together facing straight on is impossible without cutting it off at the neck.

Thanks for posting that - I've been considering getting one of these things very soon but have been put off a little at thought of cutting its head off.

I was really dreading buy the Great Beast of Gorgoroth because of all the nightmares with the quality of casting I've read on the net, but I had to take the plunge so I picked one up today. I asked the assistant in GW to allow me to check it before I purchased it. It all looked ok, it didn't fit together perfectly but I'm not sure if any do :) So once home and about 20 minutes socked and manipulating the two body resin pieces I finally stuck them together. I was actually pretty pleased with how it went together, a little shaving with a sharp knife where the half overlapped a bit. some filling around the horn. Sorted. Except it was at this point i realised the whole of the tail hadn't been cast!!!!!!! A tad annoying :( The rest of the it looks totally fine except the flexibility of the riders long spears is a worry, not sure they will ever straighten.... Sorry for the rant.

Put it under hot water, then pull it straight and hold it (or get something/-one to do so) until it's cold again. Then it should be hard.

 You can put in cold water instead of holding it until it is cold.
