How much does metal sell for?

Hello,

I am just getting into LOTR's and a local store has a bunch of metal blisters (and some boxes) on sale for 20% off. However, I talked to the owner who said that if I buy everything (probably $1000 or $1200) worth of stuff he will give it to me at 60% off. I am wondering if I can sell what I don't want and make my money back. How much is metal LOTR stuff going for on ebay or elsewhere? Any help is appreciated.

Some metal models are rare than others, and some are OOP, modles that are rare or OOP will sell for moe than common models. And it depends on what country you are in and what country you sell it to.

I'm in Canada but am open to selling internationally. Do common models tend to sell for significantly less than retail?

Some are OOP but I don't have a specific list at the moment.

Common models can sell anywhere between slightly more than retail, to about 20% of retail price. OOP tend to sell for a little less or more than retail, depending on how many were produced. Rare models like Lobelia Sackville Baggins, Rare Rohan Captain, Rare Uruk-hai Scout Captain and Mahud with dagger sell for more than 600% of retail.

Hobbits of the shire

All your help is appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out what it will cost me if I keep everything I want but sell of the excess.

Mordor Orc Captains are OOP but most sellers don't realise, they would be appproximatly RRP, or more if the buyer wanted it.

White Council Box set now only available as seperate componants. It would sell less than the total contents put together, but probably more than original cost, though not necesarily.

Plastic ent would be the same, metal Ent is OOP and would sell for more than Retail as collecters who dislime the plastic one would really like it.

Hobbits of the Shire (blister you mean?) probably over retail.

The Betrayer still widely available (and a more recent item) so less than retail

Thanks for the help. The Ent is metal and even if I don't buy the whole lot I will probably pick it up (It is 20% off). They have atleast three of the Mordor Orc Captains and three Hobbits of the Shire blisters.

I think I may just take the whole lot at 60% off and see what I can sell.

I know for a fact that several people on One Ring are looking for the Minas Tirith Orc Captain from the set. With hobbits, they are overshadowed by the elusive Lobelia, but should be ok.

Go for it, you may never get another chance.

One last question:

How much do the old boxes of Mordor Orc Commanders and Isenguard Urk-Hai Commanders go for these days (now that they produce finecast versions)?

I'll let you know what I decide to do. The store has around $1250 worth of stock (retail). I know they will sell it to me at 60% off which would be $500 but they might go lower. I want some of the stuff to start my own collection but will probably try and sell the rest off.

Nah, the mordor orc captains, and maybe the commanders are the only things here I can see going over original retail. However, since you can get 60 % of, you could just sell what you don't want 30 % below retail, and still make a profit on it.

SOme peple do prefer the Ent and the Kataphrakts as some people don't like plastics. But you may not find these buyers.

Before parting with your money, it would be wise to check the price on GW website and available products. I have been able to obtain many metal figs from GW, except for the rare ones and would prefer to purchase direct from GW in case of damage.

Yep...I am. I just bought everything they had left. I figure it helps start me up on lotr and I can sell some stuff to atleast make back some of the money. It ended up being a very good price for the stuff I want to keep myself.

I am about 45 minutes away in the Niagara area.

On ebay, metal models like theodon king and other not rare models, these will sell for like 2 to 3 pounds. But there are items like Rohan Commanders, that sell for like 5 pounds or more for each model, because they don't want to buy the whole set, but only that model. (sometimes they even overbid the regular price, because they only want that model instead of the whole set).
You said you could get like 60% off, so I think you can do it then and you can just buy all of the models.
Btw. sell every figure on it's own, except for uruk-hai crossbow and other items.
If you put it online, send my your ebay-account name in a PM plz and I might buy something from you
