Hi All,

It's been a long time since I've been here, and now i'm back to my favourite game and forum again. :D
Seems that my skills somehow got rusty so I decided to start from the beginners' section again for rehabilitation. :)
I started getting the fellowship and goblins out of the MoM box  and decided to play a quick 'Balin's Tomb' scenario from the manual. quickly scanning the rules I guess I have a quick question here and I hope yu help me to refresh my memory.

Q: The goblins come into the field into patches of 8s according to 3+ roll at the end of the movement phase. They rush in and can do anything except for charging as per the scenario rules. Now the question is: can the bowmen shoot if they move in half their allowed movement, and can spearmen support other gobs that are already engaged in a fight, on the background that the supporters are not really part of the fight??

Thanks in advance.

It's really great to get back to this fine company here and hope that every single one of you is safe and sound and in good health and all your families as well.

Cheers!

Hey, welcome back :)

Aren't you in Egypt? Hope things are safe for you there.

Yes to both your questions, the only thing the new arrivals can't do is charge into a fight. Supporting is not charging.

Thanks folks for the warm welcome and the answers!

Yes my dear Whafrog, I am from Egypt and things are still on hot surface here but going for better - we hope. And as we're on an LOTR forum, "conveniently", so I'll put it this way;
We successfully managed to defeat the "Dark Lord" and clean our lands from his malice. But he endured and not totally destroyed yet. From his hide out he keeps looking for his "One Ring" to cover all land in a second darkness. Unfortunately there are some dark powers that wants him to stay this way for their or his own survival.
So now it seems as if we're in the third age and we're seeking to destroy his last hope and thus get rid of him for good. The battle is now against his Nazguls and Allies who are working in the shadows and using lesser but still strong minions to spread chaos, trying to turn the table around and thriving for their right moment to steal the free people's partial victory. The battle is still on and we're staying true to our goal and fighting our way through.
Please keep us in your prayers!

Ok, after this really narrative presentation of the present reality narration - (if this is put correctly) :) . I would like to seek your help with few questions more:

- As far as I can rememer and understand from his status; Gimli has throwing axes to use while he moves in to charge. is that correct?
- Scenario rules mention that at the third turn Cave Troll arrives automatically at the door. what if fellowship is pushing the goblins back that there is no space for the cave troll to enter from the door.
- They also mentiones that he arrives at the door, so can he do everything except charging as with gobs?
- If fellowship managed to reach the door or the trap door can they try to seal it and then the newly arrived force has to roll to push their way in as per door securing rules in the manual?

Thanks beforehand.

Cheers!
Mohammad

From what I know, I would say that Egypt's current state is more along the lines of Saruman allying with Rohan and Gondor to defeat Sauron, who then turned on his former allies to take complete control.

I agree to the complixity of the situation especially if you're following up from afar. And also agree about the division in the free people's power, as well as the different interests in dark forces powers.

We're more like Saruman is taking over Rohan thinking he'll claim it for himself, while Gondor is to defeat Sauron who has only "One" shot for survival and all his thought is bent on it.
Rohan is in their strong Keep saying "Where was Gondor when our enemies closed in around us? No, my lord Aragorn, we are alone.", while Gondor is on their frontline saying "By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe! Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy.", and they doesn't light the beacons to summon forces thinking that no one will come for their aid.

Both are seeking the same, to defeat their common enemy in the same battle on different battlefields, but each beleives only in his own ways. And currently that's one of our major challenges I recon.

Hi guys,

any help with the previously posted questions would be much appreciated! :)
I'm highlighting them hereafter:

- As far as I can rememer and understand from his status; Gimli has throwing axes to use while he moves in to charge. is that correct?
- Scenario rules mention that at the third turn Cave Troll arrives automatically at the door. what if fellowship is pushing the goblins back that there is no space for the cave troll to enter from the door.
- They also mention that he arrives at the door, so can he do everything except charging as with gobs?
- If fellowship managed to reach the door or the trap door can they try to seal it and then the newly arrived force has to roll to push their way in as per door securing rules in the manual?

Thanks in advance
Mohammad

Greetings, Mohammad.

Let me address the questions that I can answer off of the top of my head...

-- Yes, Gimli has throwing axes, although I cannot remember if the throwing weapon rules are included in the MoM scenarios, as they are intended to be very simplified, introductory games.
-- I cannot recall completely, but I believe that MoM states that models already on the board must make way for newly arrived models. I believe this is supposed to represent the weight of hundreds of goblins try to force their way in! Again, I do not have my MoM manual with me. (I am at work, at the moment.)
-- Yes, the Cave Troll follows the same rules for newly arrived models.
-- I believe that in MoM, the trapdoors can be sealed, but the doorway cannot.

Hope that helps.

I'd say if there's no space for the Cave Troll, you can't put him on. However, he has arrived, and can move (and charge) on any subsequent turn that space is available.
I believe it is correct that only the trap doors can be sealed, the main door can not.

Yes, Gimli has throwing axes, which can be used in the shooting phase or against an enemy model he is charging, though not both in the same turn, unless rules has changed and all this is completely wrong.

Under the door, right after the cave troll arrives section:
Quote:
...If there is not room to place these newly arrived models then any models blocking their entry must be moved aside to allow the new model to be placed touching the door....
