Hi all, i'm sure it has been brought up before but i have been unable to find it anywhere on the forum, i have started LOTR with most of my local gw friends and decided on a ringwraith army. My query is which named ringwraith fulfills which roles when put on fell beasts. I have used normal wraiths on foot and found them to be a great let down so got a winged nazgul and used the witch king to great effect. Eventually i would like to get all 9 named wraiths on fell beasts but to start off i will just have 3.
So guys any help would be great, what do all 9 named wraiths on beast do and why? if its any help i will mostly be up against Khandish, Dwarves, Gondor, Rohan and Uruks
Thanks

IMO nazgul are best on horse or fellbeast
On fellbeasts here is a quick summary. The top 6 are way better than any of hte bottom 3 on fellbeasts. Beyond that it all depends how you play.

Umbar (mimic and regains will)
Kamul (regains will)
Shadowlord (14 will and darkness)
Witchking (as much will as you like, good fate and might if you pay for it)
Darkmarshall (F6 and banner, which is useful)
Undying (20 will which can also be fate)
Dwimmerleck (is alright for the 4+ use another m/w/f rule but not great)
Betrayer (is alright for poison but then the others are better)
Tainted (not sure he is worth it on a fellbeast, better on a horse cheap as chips)

khamul on fb 170
undying on fb 170
knight of umbar on fb 170
total 740
let me know if you think this may be viable or if you have seen similar before or even if i have the points wrong as i havent got the book with me at the mo

That's the exact four I have at 750. The three named ones can either regenerate or maintain will. The witch king is awesome full stop and his 'Your staff is broken' is invaluable. I am sure you already have it noted but make sure you give the Witch King the morgul Blade for 10 points. Helps a lot with enemy heroes 8)

Yep sound list, only thing is drop the Crown, as a charging Nazgul on fellbeast gets 3 attacks anyway. The Witchking on fellbeast with Crown charging has one more attack. 30 points for one more attack isn't worth it IMO. Instead armour up your Fellbeasts, (20pts each) but it means they are tougher to kill! You save 30pts + the spare 10pts which is enough to upgrade 2 fellbeasts. Then why not upgrade the other 2 by taking a slightly weaker Witch King? Say 3/14/1. The Witch King shouldn't need to be spending his fate points if he is charging and winning those combats! Knock down and double wounds. Then 3 might for calling Heroic combats. Looks pretty powerful and now all your mounts are Defence 7! Strength 2 bows and strength 4 attacks are now not as effective.

Also one point about the Tainted, if an enemy calls a heroic move (likely to counter your charging ability) then warriors within 6" of the Tainted cannot take part, therefore your other 3 wraiths will be free to charge should you win priority. Effectively if an enemy hero uses a might point to charge the Tainted, then you don't have to content the point as all nearby warriors won't take part in the Heroic Move. This leaves your other 3 Nazgul free to cause mayhem! This also affects Stand Fasts and don't forget his Seeping Decay rule. Personally I'd take the Tainted over the Undying as you want Fighters over Spellcasters when they are mounted on Fellbeasts, but that's just down to style of play :)

im not exactly sure on this but i think you can only pick the attack stat of either the mount or the rider so you have to choose between the two, you then gain 1 more attack when charging. Also this is the same with fight and strength you have to decide if your using the fight or strength of the mount or the rider. I think this is right =\.

This is correct, see p50 of the One Ring Rulebook under Cavalry & Fights

"To represent this in the game, the rider fights as normal and the mount does not fight at all, but the rider can always use the Fight, Strength and/or Attacks characteristics of the mount instead of his own"
