I totally agree with you Draugluin, except the things I'm most dying to put into plastic are Mordor Uruk-hai and Khandish Warriors.

I'm not too much a fan of Khand, but I would really like some Mordor Uruks in plastic. The WotR unit I want the most is Grimbeorn and the Beornings.

The reason I want Khand, is because I want a 6 company formation of Khandish Warriors with 2-handers in my WOTR army.

I know they're pretty good units, I just hate the Japanese-ish-ness of them.

At first, that put me off them too, but they do contrast well with the Easterlings and Haradrim.

Latest from warseer:

Quote:
Time to get a little more specific.

LotR get's a relaunch this febuary (4th of feb to be precise).

Release includes 5 books (40k codex size and price, sadly no hardcover) that cover ALL armies. All existing books will be removed and are no longer for sale, except for the rulebook itself and the three campaign books for the three movies.

Following books will be released: Realms of Men (Arnor, Gondor, Rohan), Forces of Mordor (Mordor, Isengart, Moria/Misty Mountains Goblins), Free folk of Middle-Earth (Elves and Dwarfs I assumed), Fallen Realms (Harad and Easterlings) and one that sums up the rest.

The Books will contain updated rules for ALL LotR Miniatures and nullify the entries in the big Rulebook. The rulebook is not replaced, but each of the five new themed books contains several pages of updated rules. WotR will mostly vanish from stores and be a better supported specialist game. There will be releases for WotR, but the LotR tabletop stays the third of the three big GW games.

Expect your armies to change drastically.

The release is accompanied by one (1) new plastic box set (some kind of cavallery) and a whole bunch of finecast miniatures. Some old friends, like the WotR command boxes, and some genuine new sculpts.

There is nothing else happening in febuary, at least that's what I've been told. First pure LotR month for some time now. Expect pictures any day now, the new WD will feature a LOT of LotR.

I'm excited about this, but then again I am a collector who is on my last 20-30 pieces. So anything new gives me the hopes of the continued collections.

Sounds awesome! New rulebooks, new models, ONLY LOTR! :D Im a bit confused though, will SBG be replaced or is this just another version? So there will be like WOTR/SBG/New version.

Apparently it's just LoTR and the LoTR supplements. WoTR I guess will be done in the lead-up to the second movie?

Let's hope so! I am seriously considering starting SBG as my WotR armies can be used... And with a few new figures I will be set. Sounds very promising!

Just to clarify, the rules are going to be the same (or mostly the same), but lots of profiles are going to change, right?

If it'll really be released next Saturday, I would expect GW to announce it this week.

I hope you mean THIS Friday, but I can see that. GW is horrible at advertising upcoming releases.

If they're bringing back SBG and making WOTR a specialist game, I think that's about the best news I read this last year. It would also explain why the army boxes of 24 change to 12.:) SBG is the soul of GW's LOTR mini's for me, WOTR is just a nice adition for when it gets really epic.:D

Assuming that this is all 100% correct, I am very happy. Not changing the core rules but rebalancing the profiles is great news. I hope the new army building rules and such don't effect the game too much though. I am also very happy to hear that SBG is back in at number one, and that wotr will just be a specialist game. (Sorry, just never got into wotr after hearing all the crazy broken combo's you could get, not to mention the amount of figure you need...)

It will be announced this Saturday (28th) in White Dwarf and then releases will be 4th February.
Standard GW release procedure over the past 6 months.

Well, most of the releases that I've seen (which isn't many I must admit) they announce it on What's New Today (I don't get WD) the week, or 2, before they're released.
