Hmm... Back on track here, my favorite armies are:

Good: Dwarves.
Evil: Goblins.

Kinda funny, I know, but I like 'em both! :D

Actually, I almost always play against myself.... Except when I can persuade my dad, brother or sister to play. But they always lose so that's probably why it's sorta hard to get them to play...

If they experience a lot you can play... I would be happy if my parents played even a little. You can create a mini tournament between you four :-D

I too have played against myself, only in SBG, and play against my sister, on rare occasions nowadays.

I can only see that for making sure you understand the mechanics of the game, not for actually trying to play out a game with anything close to “play”. After all a large part of a game is your ability to outthink and out maneuver your opponent. You obviously can’t do that against yourself. I have to feel that you would eliminate any real tactics and the game would come down so much to which dice turned out best that turn.

I have set up individual little skirmishes of specific models / formations to be sure that a particular concept works out as expected. For example, when WotR first came out I tried several opening moves to see just how fast a formation of Warg Riders with a Nazgul casting Wings of Terror and At The Double could cross our typical game table sizes with typical terrain and how much damage a formation of Wood Elves could do to them before they arrived and how the first round of combat may turn out. After multiple iterations you get an idea of if this is a valid tactic and how to best play it from both sides.

But I just can’t see trying to play a full game against yourself with real objectivity to both sides and the ability to play at your full capability.

Physical stamina and power has too much importance in army.So according to this point of view Chinese army is the best in world.

Isengard. Without a doubt. I just love Saruman, Uruk-Hai and Dunlendings and I even like Orcs (sort of). Dwarves and Elves of Lothlorien are the (very) close second and third. (The order of those two depends which part of LOTR I just read/saw)

Tom Bombadil is my best army wielded. Sure he has his realm and bounds, but what if...
he turned up at the Battle of the Last Alliance - just imagine everyone dancing around as Tom sings his merry song, and Sauron just can't resist dancing too.

I absoutley hate Tom Bombadil. Tolkein said that if all else good fell than Tom Bombadil would be the last to fall, That doesn't make Sauron dance, Sauron just could not harm him whilst other resistance remained.

Sorry I was thinking of a certain clip from my other hobby.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/rj-rotwk/vide ... those-days

That was seriously off Topic.

But as far as a themed force (as opposed to a strange competition army) Hobbits, Dunedain, and Tom was extra fun for me on the field.

Actually, Glorfindel said that, and he said that he THINKS that Bom Tombadil would fall. Tolkien was pretty clear that he was one of, if not the, most powerful character, so far as not being affected by the One Ring, the single most powerful and corrupting artifact of that time. His only limitations are self imposed. That means Tom>Sauron.
