hi all, my names jack and i hail from the dales of durham
im not much of a gamer to be honest ,my heart lies in painting mini,s and building terrain pieces and GW,S lotr or wotr as it now seems to be known is my chosen tipple for the time being.
i started years ago when the gw/d,agostini part works started up. i had the lot up to about 85, and had a faily huge army and board built and painted up. then my youngest son, who was around three at the time, got into the war room and decided to play soldiers, you can imagine the outcome......., and after investing so much time(and not a little cash) into it all i couldnt face starting again.
so i gave it all away, mini,s, paints ,terrain stuff, the hole shebang.
and that was the end of it, moved on with life, forgot about it and the pain went away.

untill about three months ago when a more recent friend and i were chatting about the past and i mentioned"THE INCiDENT"
"OH" says matey boy"i used to do the same stuff", it was all still in his attic tho, and he gave it all to me.many many packs of un opened mags and a fair few mini,s painted to a gaming standard.
so its all kicked off agian, and i must admit, im loving it. replenished my paints and brushes. built up terrain stuff stocks and spend a couple of evenings a week painting and building for fun.

and the best bit is, youngest son and army destroyer jack jnr has taken a keen interest in painting his own army, he,s doing warhammer 40k, he,s learning fast and he,s now way beyond a ten year olds level.
the second best bit is that three friends, all past modellers, and my self have an "arts and crafts night" once a week. they mainly do 00 railway stuff . but the mix of disciplins(sp?) has helped us all improve greatly.

well , hope that hasnt bored the pants of you all, ill post up some pics of my mini,s when i find my digi camera(my phone just wont take pics of the mini,s). can someone piont me in the direction of a showcase section or similar.

Hello Jack and welcome to the One Ring. It's great to hear your interest in the hobby has been rekindled.

As for a showcase section, you can either post up a WIP thread in the WIP section with past works and update it with future works as you progress or you can post pictures of your works in your gallery.

WIP Section.
Galleries.

I look forward to seeing you around and hope you enjoy your stay 8)

That would have to be one of my greatest fears if I ever get to starting up a family, having a child smash through my entire collection! Welcome aboard anyway and I hope you participate in some of the challenges we have put up here. Mainly the 'Painting Challenge' section and the 'Work in Progress' section. They will help motivate you painting.
