You forgot the word 'way'.

Bob the Balrog is not called Durin's Bane. And none of what we've been saying has anything to do with a dragon.

So I did.

You have it backwards, Durin's Bane is NOT called Bob. That name never appeared in LotR, though Durin's Bane sure as heck did.

I think everything that was going to be said about the dragon has been said.

Yes the term 'Durin's Bane' does appear in the novel and refer to said Balrog,. I am calling him Bob because his real name is never revealed.

I'm getting tired of your stubborness about admitting that you're wrong. You're Bob argument is beyond stupid, and in the interest of saving time, I'm not going to respond to your comments anymore, unless I have a really good reason to.

So how do you define "name" then.

A person's name is just a word or words someone, usually someone other than the entity, has chosen to use to refer to that person.

My name, Troy, is just a word my parents choose to use as a way for people to identify me. Bilbo choose to give his sword a name "Sting", The Dwarves choose to give the monster, for which they probably had no other name, the name "Durin's Bane"

That wasn't a troll, that was a legitimate comment using the official name given that specific Balrog by Tolkein.

You know, considering we just got reminded to not do this on another thread Draugluin, I am slightly surprised to see you engaged in yet another pointless argument spanning a couple pages of a topic when it does not need to be. Perhaps both of you should stop antagonizing each other with this. It's a fantasy nickname/name for a fantasy creature in a fantasy world. If the Balrog of Moria is offended that people don't call him Durin's Bane, I think he can be a Man (lame pun, sorry) and deal with them on his own.

So after reading all the posts I ask again, what's the best way to play a dragon? Haha and it's make sure you give him the right name

Thats thing is absoulty increadable, ok i have never played with a dragon nor vs one in wotr. so decide for yourself wether you are going to take my advice.

Assuming you take the magic upgrade (pretty important) then you will want to utilise that as much as allowed. get him in close combat,be careful what formation you charge him, with somthing without spirit grasp (shouldnt be too hard) and what epic hero they may have in their. I wouldnt charge a borimir lead formation or lurts due to their identical special rule "mighty blow" plus borimir's 6 might will probably be used to get that dragon dead fast. so just keep in mind your regular opponts (if you have any) and what they can literaly bring to the table.

I would suggest casting bolt of fire before charging a formation, this weakens it for less attcks later. You will definatley want to cast dark fury to re-roll your 1's and 2's in CC. I would also cast shatter shields especialy if versing dwarfs, defence 8 down to 6 is heaps helpful and i cheked the wotr and its the difference between wounding on 3's or 4's (plus lol your re-rolling 1's and 2's from dark fury) hard to go wrong.

once agin dont forget the value of a dragon; it is a FLYING MONSTER, that is great +6 dice for charge + fight diff + norm attcks + or - anything else, he is a boss and some would say overpowered, but then again the goblins are bad as so MM is an interesting army to play.

hope you can take somthing from that. 8)

That was a pointless argument that had nothing to do with LotR, this at least was still LotR related.

Right, firstly there's no need to respond to me if you don't want to. Next, the 'Bob' argument isn't an argument, it's just a way of highlighting the ludicrosity of your claim in much the same way that the Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster does to religion. In case you have'nt notice, for the latter half of the argument, I have not been taking the debate seriously. However my point is that the discussed balrog is NOT named Durin's Bane. This does not mean to say that you shouldn't refer to the Balrog of Moria (that is closer to his name) as Durin's bane, only that you acknowledge that it is NOT technically his name. In the same way as my point is; my sister often calls outr dog 'Gaylord' refering to his excitable nature, this does not mean that Loki's name is Gaylord, only that my sister calls him that.

Right first, I didn't know you were called Troy and was wondering who was being referred to; your fist name is my middle name. Next, the Dwarves called the Balrog Durin's Bnae which means that for dwarves, the Balrog is unofficially called this. However this is not his name, and I don't know how anyone with as much sense as you could possibly think that it is. (Of course if you and Draugluin are dwarves, then feel free to call him Durin's Bane)

Gooblins aren't bad. They are also overpowered!!!

I think they meant to say something other than "as".

So who gave Loki his name? By your argument, his name is whatever someone wants to call him, depending on what they prefer. So your name for him is Loki while your sister's name for him is Gaylord. Calling Durin's Bane "The Balrog of Moria" is the same as saying "that dog that lives at that person's house" to refer to Loki. Seeing as the people who LIVED in Moria were dwarves, they were the ones who got to name it.

Not really, Loki belongs to us the Balrog does not belong to the Dwarves, it belonged to Melkor. Also, now it is goblins that live in moria not Dwarves so whatever name they give it would be his name in accordance with your reasoning.
