Ive been building up my gondor/osgiliath army recently, and i am intrigued by the banner of minas tirith, it is pretty expencive in points, costing 225 points at a minimum, are all the bonus's worth those points?

Do you mean Boromir's banner? Well it is worth it if your force is already solid and you don't need any more troops, but if that 50 points could get you more troops, then you should take the troops.

No, I wouldn't say it's worth it. Look at this way, to buy a normal banner for Warrior of Minas Tirith is just 25pts. So, in effect, you're paying another 25pts to increase a few models Fight by one. That doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

I'd say it's not a good deal until you get near 1000 points. Then it's a great deal, because to fill up 1000 points but be limited to 75 models evil usually has to field elites or a swarm backed with big things like trolls. The banner gives that edge against elites (or makes Morannons less likely to win), and puts Boromir on par with a Troll Chief.

It's good if you've also got some Osgiliath vets in there as well :) They become fight 5 don't they...?

Yes they do become Fight 5 if you have a banner and the Veterans.

However personally i would say take Boromir CotWT then just take Veterans, saving the points for more of them. Really lumping more and more on one model is a little excessive, same reason not to take Anduril as for all you know your opponent may field lots of D3 and 4 models making the swords ability useless. In the same way the enemy may field a Wraith that keeps Compelling Boromir away from his own lines, making the banner useless.

Think of it this way, 50 pts gets you a banner (25 pts), increases Boromir's fight by 1 (5 pts), does not decrease his chance to win (at least 5 pts) and increases the fight of all models in 3 in (depends on how many madels you can cram into a 3 in radius, but with a solid shield wall, that can be 9 or ten models so around 10 pts). That's 45 pts right there, and it doesn't include the fact that you can put him right where you need him, so the extra fight value plus the reroll can be put to use right where you need it. Morannons trying to break through your line of WoMT? Put him there and they should win more than enough (not to mention having BOROMIR helping them out) to make a huge difference. In a game smaller than 1000 pts, don't take him. In a 1000 pt or higher game, he's definitly worth it.
