It just seems to be all hype and no substance to me. Yeah, it looks fun but how many people are likely to still be playing in a year or 2?

Well, I e-mailed GW about the fall of the necromancer book, I need the war aspect galadriel profile, but the sourcebook is not available. This is the answer I got:

More likely is that they plan on putting that sort of thing up eventually, but the guys on the phone aren't allowed to say "Yeah, we may actually get around to that sometime in the next 5 years, but I wouldn't bet on it"

When I get back online this afternoon i'm going to take a look around my archive. I thought FotN was one of the books that GW already put out the pdf for. I downloaded all of those pdfs a long time ago and have them around somewhere.

Edit: to clarify the pdfs were not the entire book. That would have been too good. They were just the profiles and special rules for that particular book.

Thanks for posting the link. Looks like Harad is the only one there that I don't already have a copy of so I'll grab that now. I like to have this sort of stuff electronic so I have easier access ( I scanned all my LoME so I have all the lists with me as needed ).

With these PDFs, the core rule book and LoME you really have most things covered pretty completely.

True, but they can't just pull all the sourcebooks and leave it like this for too much longer.* They're going to start losing customers, if I don't have the rules I can't play. I feel sorry for those trying to get into the hobby right now, who can't get the rules they want/need.

thanks, but I already have that. In fact I've saved all the pdf's. What I'm missing from the profiles is the wargear and magic. But you can't tell me those, so I guess I'll have to be patient and wait 'till GW releases the rules somewhere, or get the book off e-bay.

*Well, knowing GW's genius business plans, maybe they can....(but they can't just drop the sbg, they payed for the license extension. So, logic says the rules will be available somewhere soon, whether in a new rule book or online I don't know though.)

All the wargear options can be found in LoME, so if you have access to the basic rules and that book then you're pretty much set. You are right though that I don't believe any of these sources have the spells for the various models (except those listed in the rulebook itself of course). But in SBG there aren't that many spell users (until some of the recent WotR spam made it in) so if you were so inclined you can practically have a friend PM you the spell lists for the few models you're likely interested in and just put them all on one pdf and keep it with the profile docs.

All that being said, SBG's rules are pretty solid but it really needs all the profiles pulled back together into one or two sourcebooks and all the points levelset again to adjust for the balance issues that were starting to creep in. My worry tough is that GW will redo the core rules themselves and we'll wind up in a mess again.

Yeah, I really hope they don't change rules....that would be bad. For the pointscost balancing issue, I saw a neat idea somewhere, double the cost of everything. Then you can adjust the cost of units by one point, and it will have the effect of changing by 1/2 of a point as of right now.

i suppose if you had any scenario with a points limit then you can double the points limit as well.

At one time, I would have said you can count on that. Now I am not so sure, I understand there is faction in the company that believes they should sell lots of models rather than change rules. It is almost too good to be true. We can hope!

One rumor I heard was that the new Warhammer Army books are the last ones they are going to write because they want to focus on the models and stop writing the rules. Might be part of the reason they are only in hard cover, of course they may also be doing it to charge more $$$.

All I can say is "don't break what doesn't need to be fixed."
