Your hobby ADD (attention deficit disorder) rivals mine...however, you at least complete projects where mine have a tendency to linger way too long!

I am retired and house bound for a while with a broken leg. So I have more time. I like to make my projects complement each other and I work a little at a time. I paint dark gray one day on several projects and dry brush the next. Then suddenly I have a lot done. .

I take it you won't be using gloss varnish for the water lol. Don't think I'll make that mistake again....

I have another product that will take more preparations and several steps. I will go over it as I work through it here.

BTW, just how many different projects

Three but they are related. The Hobbit terrain, Pirate caves, and the Halloween Pulp game for Tree fort. Most of what I am working on involves Hirst Art Blocks. Some of the Club members have agreed to help some with LOTR. Linda is making sails for the pirate Game but she is going to help edit some beginning terrain tutorials as we make some LOTR terrain.
Thanks for the nice comments. Please comment on the small project page and take the budget pole . It will help.

I have to wait for the paint to dry before I can continue. You can see the lay out better now that I have started painting.
none of the light gray cave blocks are permanent. The s-shaped road piece is part of the Goblin road set and will be replaced by a similar section.

I will have to dry brush with slate gray then light gray. I will then highlight with ivory and antique white. I will finish it with varnish When it is very dry. I will add a water effect.
The pool was painted black. I use a very dark green as the edge or shallow water. I will lightly dry brush light green near the edge.I will use some glow in the dark varnish at the edge of the pool.

I have been looking at some of the photo of the Hobbit set and I have some new ideas. I will need to make more blocks.

Well, I have to stop working on it and let it dry. I will try to put varnish on it Friday. I will start the water Monday if it is dry enough.

:? I was just saying where I got it :?
May be some one can run down a UK source and post the link in the my terrain budget post. In fact what craft stores do you have in the UK or Australia. I know some of you are in Spain, Belgium and Poland. I know local stores are different.

The brand name DecoArt has a U.K. Representative . The FolkArt is bottled in the Atlanta area.
Americana also DecoArt UK,ST5 8LE, England http://www.Decoat.com

Asda is a subsidiary of the American retail giant Walmart
"Resistance is futile"

:flower: :flower: :flower:
Do yo guys have a Walmart size Craft Store like Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's Fabrics? The big Hobby shop is Hobby Town U.S.A.They have a GW store size GW department plus every thing else including trains and RC cars. The girls love the doll house department.
I need help with over seas retail. It is hard to keep up with US retail stores. There are 50 states in the US.Most don't have many or even any GW stores. My State does not have one.

I am going to put another highlight on the green and then a dark green wash.I want it to match the Dwarven Forge lake sections. http://www.dwarvenforge.com/index.php/products

I am wondering if the green shallow water is too wide?

I don't think the shallower part is too wide - once its washed the transition between the two will become less prominent anyway and these lakes often have a wide shallow area and then a steep drop off. Gollum needs a nice platform of shallow water to stand to catch the fish where the lake bottom drops off to the deep.

I think your colour match is definately in the right area to match the Dwarven Forge cavernous lake piece. I've bookmarked Dwarven Forge for future use, some of the pieces are wonderful! Keep up the good work! 8)
