Do you think a one-off 'Finecast Only' challenge in September is a good idea?

I had an idea for the painting challenge in September; it can be any model, but it has to be a Finecast model.

I'm not sure how people would feel about this. I thought it might be nice to have little bit of a change.

Interesting suggestion. If the majority are up for this then I'm more than happy to do a 'Finecast Only' challenge in September.

I'm going to add a Poll to this thread so we can get an idea of who wants what.

I voted no because of the expense. I will eventually purchase some Finecast minis, but not for a while.

This is why I expect people to vote no. That and the problems people have experienced may put some people off.

But we'll see how the vote goes. I'm running it for 21 days so there is time for the usual miniature voting thread if 'no' turns out to be the final resut.

Now now, let's not subjugate the people who only wish to work with metals and plastic into painting a material they want nothing to do with, lol.

I voted no due to the number of people who seem to be getting inferior quality of these pieces and also the cost would prohibit me from taking a chance on one of these models until GW refines their production process.

I think it might be a good idea in the future when there are a few more finecast options, so if it was to come into effect then I would't for a while, but will want to later, maybe when I eventually get one eg Sauron.

I vote no because I don't own any Finecast models. I think it could be a good idea for a future painting challenge when the second wave of LOTR models are released and there is more choice.

I would be down for that. Either 2 figure command group or 3 figures including a horn blower.

Painting a Finecast cant be that different from painting anything else, really.

I really like Dave's idea. Painting a command unit is a different challenge.

I don't have a command set but I do like the idea of a different type of challenge. Something like the four Hobbits of the Fellowship etc.

Alright, let's keep the ideas coming then for the next poll of the September painting challenge and will stay away from the good/evil hero theme for just this one time and we'll continue with the side of good in October.

So far the ideas are: Finecast only, Command Group, the four Hobbits of the shire.

Even though I like the command group one, I'll throw in the idea of Siege Engines only.

Yeah I've read posts by a few members on how these painting challenges are bad for their budget, but are mostly great for guys like me who have a major backlog and huge selection that we can compete in most of them.
