I'll bite the bullet and let you guys come up with a penance (punishment) for me. :o

What shall his punishment be? Hmmm...

I have no clue about what we could do, guess I'm in the same boat as you Jake.

On a positive note. I have finished the first of my backlog. My Dragon has been fully repainted and fixed I may post pics in my ancient P&M Blog). So... time to by a box of Ushabti then... or do I need to paint 5 goblins to balance out the purchase. :? Since I don't really want to break my oath...

I would consider a dragon to be worth about 10-12 infantry models (5-6 cavalry).

As far as punishment for {aD}??? -- I think an embarrassing photo would be good penance for a first offense. The goofier the photo, the better.

Argh, I'm no oathbreaker,
The models have not yet been shipped so out in the back garden with those pesky models I needed to dip but didnt due to those storms a few weeks ago.
12 corsairs, (spears or shields)
12 orcs, (spears or shields)
Why do they even give me bows that are not harad?

Back on the paint station
glorfindel mounted is nearly finished,
saruman mount ... why did he have to be saruman the white and not saruman the *insert colour that is easier to paint*

24+26 = 50
Close shave there.
My back log is now only epic and not EPIC. Though it is alot of unpainted models no more easy patch up jobs

Just putting stuff into boxes to move into my new house. Keep finding more gamesworkshop models. What does a mumak and a stormraven get me? Ive one of each still Mint in box, and one mumak built and half painted.
Those first few paycheques did not buy me much beer it would seem

Some more news for my fellow Oath takers. I have proof of my actions. You, know, of actually painting a model. You can even see it in my WiP Thread.

So...are we allowed to still buy hobby stuff? Like paint, sculpting putty, brushes etc. ? Because I want to get some greenstuff and milliput, and some vallejo game colour. Is that ok if i just stay away from purchasing minis?

Btw I managed to get started on mounted gandalf the white, and some dwarf rangers yesterday :D Still have a small mountain of dwarves to get through though. And some larger metals. Oh well....back to the painting table!

It would be difficult to reduce your backlog if you couldn't purchase hobby supplies. You just have to stay away from the shiny new toys!

Well that's true, I didn't think of it that way :-D I won't be interested in getting more minis until I get a new job :)
Thanks.

Because I'm started a new personal project (http://wernershobbyblog.blogspot.com/2011/08/play-through-fellowship-of-ring-journey.html), I don't want to participate in this oath any more.
For my new project I've 70% of the minis in my backlog so my backlog will get reduced :D

The net was being stroppy, so lets try this again:

This month I shall complete my formation of 12 Knights of Minas Tirith. Half of them are almost done already though.

And I did paint up some figures for Dungeons and Dragons too! I was somewhat virtuous!

@Dream27 -- Welcome to the fold.

@Werner -- Sorry to see you go, but good luck with your new project!

@Aelfwine -- Good to see some progress. Keep at it!

For my own progress, I have painted 24 Mordor Orcs, and rewarded myself with some eBay purchases. I have Mauhur, Ugluk, Gorbag & Shagrat and 6 High Elf Spearmen on the way. I've maintained the oath this far...

I have plenty of progress.

Just plenty of miniatures too.

Right now the game plan looks like:

Some more D+Dish figures (some cast Prince August elves)
Finish Knights of Minas Tirith/Pelargir
followed by
Men of Belfalas (there's 16 - basically repainted Numenoreans)

Which should get us to the end of the month. Probably halfway into September.

Count me in Jon.

I don't purchase much in the way of LOTR these days, but I have a backlog a mile long.

This month's painting challenge has inspired me to get back into LOTR in a big way. I feel really fired up now and have dug out a number of minis to paint (so I can buy more and not feel guilty). I will work on a number of Dwarves and have a go at painting Hama (one of my favourite minis in the entire range).
