I have recently gotten back into SBG this summer and am now happily working on my Lothlorien/Rivendell army but I've been scouring the site to find what I missed over the school year and have seen a few posts about GW coming out with a big new LOTR release are these rumors confirmed or what

I only believe you because you're a Ringwraith. Otherwise I would say that its just rumours.

We've been hearing rumors of some big LotRs release for like 8 months now.

I don't really care WHAT it is, I just wish it would get here.

I believe that you believe it :) Seriously, I'm sure something is coming, but I'm too jaded by past GW releases to think it'll be anything more than last November, with a cool model (the drake), some wtf models (goblins with S4 and D6? A drum that makes my other drum obsolete?) and some omg-wtf-sheesh profiles like Floi. Or it'll be a fat one-volume tome with lots of typos. Or, horror of horrors, it'll be all WotR. If it's as good as the Galadhrim release I'll be happy, but with GW I've learned it's better to be pessimistic and wrong than optimistic and right :)

I doubt we'll see Beornings this soon. Makes much more sense to save them until the Hobbit. The Stone Giant does need a model though. Too bad if they produce one it will probably be in met...finecast and too expensive to actually get.

The stone giants always intrigued me since I saw them in LoME. Are they actually true tolkien?

There's one or two vague references to giants and stone hurling that could mean literal giants but which could also mean something else.

Kinda like the werewolf reference. It's there, but what was really meant is hard to figure but GW just went with the obvious/didn't look at it too close interpretation.

Who has ever said anything about a particular time frame?

The only rumor I have seen (on 3 different sites) has always been, "There is something big in the pipeline for LotR",

for all anyone has bothered to confirm or verify, it could be talking about Hobbit releases in 18 months. "Something is coming" provides no information at all, and 8+ months of hearing nothing but that is getting pretty damn old.

Well it's because bilbo's birthday is september 22, and it's been 10 years since the start of lotr sbg. That's why he's specifying august/september.

If the rumour is true, I can't wait either!!! :D

Stone giants are specifically from The Hobbit, when they are hurling boulders across the Misty Mountains as the company attempts to cross. I like the way they appear in the GW Specialist Game Battle of Five Armies...just "regular" giants, holding large stones. A giant made of actual stone wouldn't really fit...and I just think it would look really, really stupid.
