I am doing a Diorama depicting the bit in the book when aragorn stands above the great gates and parleys with the uruks and says 'Get you gone'. The Uruks are fine as I have converted a few and will convert Ugluk to make a leader. My problem is Aragorn. The Denders of Rohan set [urlhttp://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1060264][/url] has the Aragorn that best fits the diorama but I am unsure of the pose. Is it too relaxed? should the sword be drawn in a parley with orcs? Is it a waste of an aragorn? What other figures could I use? The TT pose doesnt fit and there is no other pose of him in the mail gear I want him to be in.
Any input will be welcome on this as I am stuck with indecision :(

Sounds like you are in abit of a pickle.

I'd love to help you after helping me with my diorama issues, so here is my two cents.

If you don't believe the Aragorn is in the right pose then you can always convert him I suppose. If you don't like the sound of that just choose the pose that you find most suiting. This scene is from the book so if you never see it then it's fair to say you can put in that figure you have linked us to.

Hope that gave some help.

the hand pointing would be good for it but as you have said you may want to convert the hand on the sword- you can just cut it at the shoulder and then replace it with the armoured aragron arm with sword- only cutting one of the arms of as he is holding the sword two handed. it would be an awkwered conversion however but imo the figure is very dull anyway and even though its oop you wont get much money for it on ebay etc so it may be better to convert it for your needs as it fits your dioramma very well :legolas:

I think the pose could be OK. I would make the hand palm up, as though he's stopping traffic ("Then he raised his empty hand, palm outward in token of parley"). Then turn the head to look towards the hand, and you're there.

Of course, if you're following the book, then Aragorn needs to be wearing shining mail, with a helm, and round shield with a golden boss set with jewels. The figure of Eorl the young on foot, hand modified and with Aragorn's head, would be perfect. I'd use the head from the new Finecast set (the riding model), and use Eorl's head, suitably hollowed out, to be the helm that Aragorn's put on the wall while he speaks. GS round the cloak would hide the joint for the head, and you'd have to do something with the sword hilt, but it would look good.

One bright idea, a bill for £37.50 for new models. :o

How would this model look to you? Having mail and helm, sword drawn, arm ready for a shield?

(Is that even official Aragorn? I'm not quite sure.)

Thanks! The helm did look familiar, but I wasn't quite sure. 8) Though with a bit of chopping and gluing he could become a good Aragorn in mail and drawn sword?

If you want to do your diaroma but want Aragorn, assemble them on bases and make the diarama with spaces where the bases will go. This way you have your diarama and you keep Aragorn on his own (and the uruks)

Cheers all. I was planning to have the helm and the shield in the diorama and having Aragorn as per the film with the mail shirt under the jerkin. I also have a spare Eomer and Aragorn so may do some cutting and sticking. Will keep you posted

It will be my first proper diorama as I am a scenic baser mainly but I have a spare Weathertop Aragorn (has missing arm) and may look at using a gripping beast figure but swapping the head. Will keep all posted
