Hi there, i have just started this hobby, ben playing 40k for years and wanted to try something new.
Me and a friend got hold of the MoM and i ended up with the felowship.

I now want to look into getting a larger army but cant decide between Gondor or Dwarfs,
i like cavalry but dwarfs are still cool, anyone have any tips of forces or sorcebooks for additional rules???

Welcome to the battlegrounds of Middle-Earth!

I suggest the Legions of Middle-Earth book is a good first buy. It has the army lists, to give you the look and feel of each army and help you select your forces. There's also a bunch of different scenarios to give you an excuse for the total annihilation of the enemy. :)

Welcome to the hoby!

As far as I know, you can make a Dwarf army, and ally some Gondorian cavalry :D But like Ares B said, get yourself the LoME book and if you are going Gondor get Gondor in flames book, if you take dwarves, you should get the Khazad-dum book. Or both :)

Your choice depends a bit on your play style. Dwarves are tough and courageous, but they move slower and lack spears and cavalry. They're a forgiving army for new players since their higher defense and better than average fight can make up for mistakes. Gondor has a lot more variety, from solid reliable warriors to shooty rangers to elite knights, and they have more choices of elites and heroes.

I'd also suggest that if you like both, ally them together, unless as whafrog says you prefer a particular style of play.

I must admit the sluggishness of the dwarfs is the point i like the least and i do like cavalry so i think ile have a go at gondor, i may collect dwarfs later and ally them for some interesting battles.

Thanks all

Yeah GW has been cutting the sourcebooks, Khazad-Dum is longer available as well. I think they're trying to force people to move to War of the Ring.
