I actually kind of like your first list, because it's unusual. People have made winning 500 point elf armies led by only Arwen, so being led by non-fighters isn't a stretch. I think the last one would work too...you're in elf-number territory, but with big hero power and fate saves you'll probably do fine...but it's a bit more standard.

Great; the perspective I was looking for. Looking forward to trying it out.

In the last list i would say take out the 2 elves and give the monkey twins heavy armour and bows or give them horses as it would make them more effective as killers.

My horse experience is limited but awful. Pin cushions. Love the manuverability, but with only two on the field, wouldn't they soon be dead? Maybe if I had more experience. The two extra elves are support bodyguards so the Twins don't have to face the Nazgul (and friends) alone as the Arnor wimps flee.

But I too like the first list, augmenting large numbers of good troops. Even the Twins can go down, leaving only low numbers.

Courage is important, especially in larger battles, 'cause you'll have more enemy monsters.
And yes, if your force breaks with goblins and you haven't got a hero with stand fast........
The goblins will flee as if they saw Sauron putting his helmet off (by the way always wondered what is in it).

I love the concept btw, its totally awesome, alot of people are suggesting allying in a dwarf captain with throwing axes and shield but since your choosing from the khazad dum why not go for Mardin, he's almost the same points value but has an extra might and a pleasent suprise should he defeat a troll in combat, Or better yet, take Durin, best dwarf in the game and malbeths special rule would really complement his lack of fate :D

Malbeth
Durin
26 warriors of arnor
13 hobbit archers
500 Points, 4 might (presuming malbeth has 1 point of might), 41 models, 13 shots, the most nigh unkillable model in the game (durin) and a 5+ save on all wounds

Or...

Malbeth
Mardin
4 vault wardens
23 warriors of arnor
12 hobbit archers

497 points, 4 might (again assuming malbeth has only one point), 45 models, 12 shots, 4 defence 9 models to clog up a tight spot on the map and nearly infinite spermen to support them should their teammate die, to make things better they have that handy 5+save on all wounds.

Suicidal, I love both of those lists.

Durin is epic and his free fate of 6, malbeths 5+ and his 1 point of fate makes him uber. (AND is first two fate rolls for each wound are not affected by dwimmerleck)
Add to that the spear support so 4 attacks with a reroll and +1 to wound.

Thanks, the only problem is that both of them are entirely metal, and very heavy on the pocket and the gmaing case, oh wait finecast is out, the models will bankrupt you but hey, they don't wiegh much :DDD

Are you talking about mine? the vault wardens count as two models so it's actually on 31 non archer warriors and 13 bow equipped warriors

Durin...I'm on EBay now. Though, of course, Kaz Guards are hard to resist...so I put 15 in...low numbers, but unstoppable. Never considered uber-heros for a 500 pt army...now Elrond comes to mind.

Elrond 170
2 High Elves w/ H.Armour, Shield, Spear 22
1 High Elf w/ Bow 11

Malbeth 75
22 W. of Arnor 176
11 Hobbit Archers 44

38 units, 4 might, 13 bow shots, 498 points

Decent numbers and might, unstoppable terror causing hero w/ Nature's Wrath & Restore & Fate Reroll, a Terror-Proof hero assualt squad (could be larger)... I am liking this. And nothing more to buy! Opinions?

Each allied contingent has to conform to the 33% bow limit, the vault wardens don't count.

If you're gonna fork out on standard elrond, you may aswell go for elrond of rivendell.... His stats are in a white dwarf pdf on the games workshop website. And good point whafrog i admit defeat :P
When it comes to uber heroes it depends who your playing, if you're used to playing with friends who only invest in 1 box of warriors and uber heroes because they liked them in a film then a uber hero of your own is pretty important as it is difficult to beat an uber hero like durin at 500 points without having something similarly powerful, i once played a game in which dain was transfixed about 5 times but nothing managed to scratch him :(

In my opinion go for durin over elrond, he will probably kill much more than elrond and you already have a spellcaster, which is one of elrond main draws. Also with durin he has such a high defence you could send him off to capture objectives or whatnot without him being too badly injured.
