Hi guys, sorry for making so many darn topics but w/e

On friday me and 5-7 of my friends are gonna do a friendlly tournament, the prize is going to be a ben 10 mug i got from an easter egg (my mum's boyfriend is so good at shopping for 16 year olds). Its a 500pts tournament and i am trying to enforce LOME rules. I know one player will be harad, one gondor, on isengard, and the other two will surely field warriors of the dead or aragorn (with anduril and all his bling).

Anyway here are the two potential armies i could use, i have included a list of the other models i have beneath each so if you have any suggestions regarding what i should change, please make suggestions based on the rest of my collection :D

Durbuz-60pts
Moria goblin shaman-45pts
47 moria goblins (16 bow, 16 shield, 15 spear)-235pts
cave troll-80pts
Ringwraith (1M/9W/2F)-80pts

Total: 500pts. 50 models, 16 bows, 5 might

The rest of my evil collection:
6 wild wargs
4 giant spiders
2 castellans of dul goldor
The necromancer
Spider queen
Ugluk
Uruk hai shaman
Dragon
Khamul the easterling

Or i could use my good list:

Balin with durins axe-95pts
Dwarf shieldbearer-60pts
6 khazad guard-66pts
16 dwarf warriors with shields-144pts
8 dwarf rangers with bow-80pts
3 dwarf warriors with bow-27pts
1 dwarf warrior with bow and horn-29pts

Total: 501pts. 36 models, 12 bows, 5 might

What other dwarf/good models i have;
gimli
2 kings/captains
1 vault warden team
Dwarf warrior with banner
16 dwarf warriors with two handed axes
16 dwarf rangers with two handed axes and throwing weapons
12 more dwarf warriors with bow
Boromir (both)
24 warriors of minas tirith
warrior of minas tirith with banner
4 knights of minas tirith
1 foot and mounted captain of minas tirith / king of men
1 captain of minas tirith
1 elven stormcaller

1 final question!!!! How large is base of the kings champion himself? and do i have to include the 2 banner bearers if i want to use him?

Thanks, Joe

I kind of like your first list. It's basic, but a RW with extra will will take care of heroes nicely.
The big king's champion base is for WotR only. For SBG they are all on standard bases.

The hornblower is alittle unnecesary for the dwarf force, take the banner instead, it's more useful (depending on scenario). Also your evil list is 1 guy to big. you could scrap a goblin and buy something extra for the wraith.

yeah, i overlooked the shaman, ill take out a goblin and give the wraith more will :D
And yeah i intended on making the first list pretty basic, im thinking i should pair the shaman and durburz together and pair the troll and the wraith up. I rarely use simple lists but i figured i should use goblins how they are meant to be used.
Im also thinking of replacing some goblins with a bat swarm, thoughts?

Not necessary, that's what the wraith is for, to reduce the fighting effectiveness of heroes. Otherwise you need to keep the goblin swarm maxed. You could replace the wraith and a couple goblins for the SQ and a bat...different flavour but a similar kind of effectiveness.

(sorry for necromancy)

The first "warm up" game (to get everyone used to the rules) was the best and most fun. It was approximatley 200 points and i was using my dwarf rangers+elven stormcaller (illegal i know but the point was to use what is most complex in your army). I was against haradrims led by a pesky hasharin! The stormcaller failed EVERY SPELL except 1 and that proved useless, many of the harad warriors fell by throwing axes and bows before the fighting broke out. In combat his half trolls killed many rangers but once he was broken most of them fled, all the rangers with throwing axes (the ones in combat) had died. The stormcaller was left to fend off a half troll and a spearmen for 3 turns before he died. The archers were assailed by a hasharin and a swarm of harad warriors. One turn before the end the hasharin and all the harad wrriors fled, besides one spearmen who was quickly surrounded. The other half troll was on the way to have a go at the remaining rangers but it failed its courage test on the last turn victory by 3 models!

Annoyingly for the "proper" game my friends decided it would be best to do a big 1000 point game in which each person contributes 500 points(much to my horror) and there are two sides (good and evil).
I was fighting the dwarf/elf player and had no interaction with my ally or my other enemy, which is why those "team" games are pointless without an objective as the same applied to everonye else. Victory was close, even though the wraith and many goblins had died i had killed erestor and my cave troll was on the way, my 16 archers had suprised my opponent in close combat and cut down all but dain, gimli and 4 dwarf warriors. However my friend lost and his opponent sent over glorfindel and boromir to royally do everyone over, Boromir+gimli killed the troll while glorfindel murdered the Durbuz.

However then we played a "siege" game which was played in the same manner but proved to be much more fun as the two teammates had to work together (in my case to defend the fort). My army was 16 dwarf rangers and legolas up in the towers, and an Elven stormcaller (which we gave the "staff of power" rule) in the courtyard behind the gate (my friend had the dwarf heroes so it was legal). My teammate had dain, gimli and numerours guards waiting behind the gate. The rangers+legolas managed to kill a mordor troll chieftan and numerous orcs + haradrim before the uruk crossbowmen shot them down. Legolas had to leave due to complaints from the loudest player :( The stormcaller proved great use in forcing the enemy back with his natures wrath spell, which cause the half trolls to constantly fall down and be killed by gimli+dain.

I then played against two mordor siege bows and a swarm of uruk hai. which was difficult. 6 beserkers killed all 8 rangers with axes on a single charge. The stormcaller managed to hold them back (no staff of power this time) until his will was depleted and he resorted to his staff (which he won EVERY fight with despite numerous magical failures). The bows killed more uruks than dwarves which was lovely and despite the uruks being forced to the floor nearly every turn nothing was dying and all the beserkers won their fights and stood up. Balin seemed to be the only person killing anything. That game ended abruptly when we discovered it was 4:15am

Thanks for the help on choosing a decent army :D it would have paid off if it had not been for the ridiculous 315 points worth of reinforcements the dwarf player received at the end of the game.
