Well I'm only going to argue and go off topic this one and only time.
I did some searching around to find some official forum rules section and all I found is a "Forum Guidelines" sticky. And in it it mentions no word on Thread Necromancy.
Interesting and funnily enough I did found this:

I'm going to defend post necromancy a bit. This is a discussion forum, if a topic is interesting to you, you should be able to add your two cents no matter how old it is, after all that is the point of a forum is it not. If newbies come on here and see an old topic that they may have an opinion on and still may be relative to them, why shouldn't they be allowed to participate just because they joined in late? The alternative would be topic duplication just so they can discuss the same subject. And to me duplication is more of a crime than necromancy.
And if necromancy posting is against the rules then why don't the admins and mods just lock up topics that become over 30 days old without a recent post? That would be the most sensable thing to do to stop posting on old topics.
Btw I don't want to make it seem like I'm bashing you hero of gondor. That's not my intent, just expressing my view on the matter. I also see why one thinks bringing an old topic back from the dead can get to be annoying because it's old news to them or not relative anymore.
