Old Willow* could you recommend which mould I should get next

I think you have #40, #45, and #65.
I think all you need to finish Weathertop is the door frame from #282 you can order the doors here: http://nalsworkshop.com/

Image Image
This is about as close to the door way as I have been able to come. The smaller arch and the block I am using for the capital/base are on #65, the part from #282 is much closer to the model than the post on #65.
#282 is a cavern accessories mold.I use this mold for Hobbit doors.
There are four small arches with half pillars on each end between the buttresses.I have not worked it out but you should be able to complete the buttresses with the curved blocks from #65 you will certainly be able to complete it with #40 and #45

For Helms Deep I used:
#50 Wizards tower-arrow slits
#51 Inn-doors and windows and roof line
#60 Prison Tower-stairs and arches
#63 Octagon Tower-towers
#200 Wall builder
#201 Floor tiles

Image
I still need:
#53 The bridge- large archways
I do not have the mold to complete this arch. I still have a few details to work out before I glue.
I need this mold to complete Amon Hen as well.

Image

If you can only order one start with #51 because you can make doors windows and the roof line with what's on the mold. #60 has a lot of useful parts. I did not include field stone molds in the suggestions because I think the Gothic blocks are better suited to the movie style LOTR
I hope this helps :)

I spent a little more time thinking about the post last night. It will take a lot of cast but it will be possible to make a model very similar to weather top with the Hirst blocks.

Image

I spent a little time dry stacking blocks. I do not have some that would be needed cast. I did discover that 4" Circular Tower Mold #52 would be very useful to fill in the center of the floor.

The part you've done already looks very good. I look into the moulds a little more too, I have my eye on the #54, #55 and #56. I won't be getting them for a whie yet though I doubt. What Weathertop have you got in the back? That the 200 quid one or the Thormallin one?

It is the "display only version". It came from a long closed GW store. I do not have the 200 quid one. I did not buy the Thormallin version but it seams a good value.

I see from #54, #55 and #56 your are working on a church. Cool

A small update on this thread. I have been pretty busy on the boards so this thread seems to have slowed down a little. The model has been base coated black and has had a dry brush. I've also hit the paints again and am working on half a dozen WoMT.

Great work so far 8) The middle does look a little empty though. I'm looking forward to seeing the new recruits as well.

It is a bit dwarfy though. Maybe a white tree in the middle?

They both sound pretty good. I like the idea of the dwarf markings but yer maybe a little too dwarfy ehe. I like your idea of a white tree, that'll give me a chance to work with some wire... hmmm interesting. Thank's for that Cyndra :-D

How about a well?

Image

You already have the curved blocks. You could even put a fountain in it. If you use a separate base like I used for the Fantasy wells you could swap them out.
The tower looks good so far 8)

Sorry folks been pretty inactive recently but I've come to the rescue and will boot some life back into this thread. I finally got that fantastic Boromir model and have painted him up. Sorry for the bad picture. I also made another mould of some lotr terrain pieces, so I can now cast plenty with ease. Gave them a quick paint up, and they'll had some nice colour to my board.

The terrain looks simple and effective aka great. I like Boromir, the freehand is good, but the tree is a bit lopsided but I think that the sword would be covering it so well done.
Keep up the good work.

Hey folks sorry I've been rather inactive once again over the past weeks. I've found some time to clean my room and finally work on my Helm's Deep project once again. I haven't done much, but I'm hoping I will be inspired to keep going and finish it off once and for all! I've made the front wooden defenses and I bricked up the front wall where Theoden stands. I should get the other two done tomorrow and looked the same as the middle one. Here's the pictures:

Sorry the pictures are a little fuzzy, my camera decided it wanted to play a few tricks on me.

Good work so far Drum 8) The red on the gate looks a bit bright, but you may not be finished with it yet.
Anyway this looks promising.

I totally agree with you there garmenhord, hopefully I'll finish it this time!
Yeah I know the gate needs redoing, but I'm focusing on the main parts still. I'll get round to it soon though :)

Will have more updates soon

Here's another update on the Helm's Deep. I've been first of all working on the Deeping wall. I've strengthened it by adding dense foam in the inside and filled up the side which is supposed to represent rubble. I've also added the stairs so now the men can get up and down, they are a little steep but they are mostly just for effect. I got the second high battlement and working on the third as you can see from the picture. It's causing a little difficulty but I'll get round it.
