Here's some nice pics I found on a site of these two fortresses. It's a lot nicer when they do a side by side comparison giving you the size difference.

Looks sweet, I really like the light on Minas Tirith, if the eye lights up as well that would be cool.

It dates from October 2006...
Danbury Mint figures.
Found a Barad Dur on ebay, saying in it's discription it's actual size is 13 3/8" in height... (= about 33 cm)

I got shook up there when you mentioned 13 3/8". I was immediately thinking 13' 3/8"!!! But wait 3/8" didn't make sense, lol. I would like to see someone make a table top size Barad Dur, just like that old man who has made a scratch built Minas Tirith in his garage.

That is a really good site thank you. So... what scale do you think Barad Dur should be to match the GW models??? A base area of 6' x 6' and the tower peaking at let's say another 6'? Honestly I have no idea and I wouldn't even have the time or space to take on such a project.

Hard to say, nothing exactly is known of Barad-dur's hight.
But Orthanc is around 500ft high (irl), and is only a baby-brother to Barad-dur...

I would go for about a rough 40ft high to be in scale with the miniatures, lol... (would be around 2500 ft irl...). Some say it's even bigger, but not over 3400ft (?) (Orodruin)

I would actually like to see a one ring member make a small scale playable version of the tower. Or if need be a small portion used for gaming, like the bridge and front gate or a portion of the tower. Maybe someday I'll get around to doing a small scale project of some sort, not any time soon though.
