Drum's Terrain/Painting Thread

I bought a few mini's off ebay again. Got 9 farmirs rangers, some painted but most of them just sprayed black. These will go well with the rest of my rangers & also my Ranger command & Halbarad. Anyway I'll try get some things painted.. still revising for exams at the mo tho.

Sorry folks I haven't been painting or building at the moment. Just been caught up with things, I don't think I'll get these figures painted this week because I'm still likely to be pretty busy. I just took a few mins to show what I need to do, and what I have done.

Have Done

9 Guards of the Fountain Court

4 Gondorian Flag/Captain
18 Rangers
1 Damarod
1 Boromir
1 King Aragon
1 Denathor
1 Gandalf the White
1 Halbarad

I will be getting another pack of Citadeal guards and a pack of Rangers. After this it's back to the terrain!

I can get some pictures up laters if you wish...

Sorry have been busy with exams still, but I'll get some painting done around xmas time. I've got the mould done, they do take a lot of time - but worth it I find. It's supported nicely by the foamboard. There are a few holes that need sorting, which I'll get done tomorrow. Well at least this now means I can churn of a few, and try out different designs. (like orc improvements someone suggested)

can't wait to see it finished! are you going to make a battleboard about ruined osgiliath or something? sorry if you said it somewhere before, I don't want to read all 17 pages XD a bit lazy.. :p my apologies :p

Well the idea is to make a mould of it and then just churn it off + sell it. I'll use it for my own small terrain battles (not for the osgiliath board) and I'll probably give a few to my local club.

Here's the cast thats just come out, it's still a little damp but it worked well. Was great and easy to get out. I'll start working on basing it & will try a few conversions.

you know, you could actually brake it up into smaller bits to create that more realistic looking ruined effect

and even, you could actually make two out of one by doing that! :twisted:

I've decided to begin another big project this year, it'll be slightly smaller than Helm's Deep - but still a fair enough scale. I think I'll start a new thread for it soon, but this is just very early stages. So it takes a lot of time to plan, and planning is very important. I have just started with a simple stained glass window, there will be around 40 of the all together - all different sizes, shapes etc.. I might use a mould to quicken things up. This will just be a background project, while I have other things going on like my Gondor army & other small terrain pieces.

Question: Does the white arch look okay? or should there not be one - I'm not sure

Comments are always welcome, and I will be asking a lot of question to see what you people think - or if there is anyway to improve my work.

As garmenhord said, keep the arch or maybe go as far as to have it going all the way around the other bit. Is it going to be a sort of chapel/cathedral?
I'm looking forward to seeing it in progress so keep it up.

ahh it's a secret for the moment untill I get some things sorted on it. You'll guess anyway, but you don't know which cathedral it is.

On another note, I've been busy this Christmas Eve building my trebuchet.. I was going to buy it at the start - but decided to make it instead. So I've saved myself exactley 23 quid! It's almost finished but I can't be bothered to do anymore today. Tell me what ya'll think though. Oh yes and before I forget, a big thank you and hug (getting into the xmas spirit here) to RangerofGondor for the guide!

I'll give you all the stages. This will be a nice extenstion to my Gondor army too

The first steps were pretty straight forward

This part was the most difficult, well not really difficult... just very time consuming

It was some string stuff that was supposed to be used to hang xmas cards at the start, but thought I'd try it for the trebuchet. It didn't work after all so I just spun it round my penicl. Happy now? lol

awh thanks mate, I'm quite happy with it. What I have in store for you at the moment is some more painting. I just finished off a small gorup of 6 Citadeal guards, and working on some captains/banners. Still have a lot of troops & Knights to do as well.
