Hi gang! I just starting getting into SBG and I've used this list a few times to decent effect in my local scene. There are very few experienced players in my area, so I'm not quite sure on the feedback I've been getting. It looks like

Arvedui 70
Malbeth 75
13 Warriors, 1 Banner 134
8 Rangers of Arnor 64

Allies:
Captain of Minas Tirith with Shield 55
7 Knights of Minas Tirith with Shields 98

Total 496

The Knights have proven their worth on several occasions, but I'm willing to part with a few for more warriors. Also, I want to limit this to mannish models for fluff reasons and because I will be converting the allies to fit in better. I run the warriors and heroes in a Phalanx to gain maximum benefit from the Malbeth Bubble and Arvedui's Stand Fast and the Banner. The Knights protect a flank and are a distraction unit and the Rangers are a light suppressing fire unit. I crushed a friend's Grey Company, clubbed through a friends Easterling Phalanx and held my own in a doubles game against Black Numenoreans. Any thoughts? I know Arnor is a horde army by nature, but the models are a weee bit on the expensive side and although I'd gladly get more, it'd be a while before I had a functional force.

Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Sandwiches?

You might trade Rangers for Hobbit Archers, to beef up total numbers and let you volley. Is the banner worth the points? Here is a possiblity, assuming you have the money to buy the metal:

1 Arvendiu
1 Malbeth
22 Warriors of Arnor
10 Hobbit Archers
1 Capt of MT with shield
6 Knights of MT w/ shield

41 units 5 might(?) 500 points

In your original list, I think you have a bit too many heroes to be competitive and it also has gone over the archer limit for rangers unless you plan to take the bows off some which I presume you are not. I like fritskuhntm's list though I would give the captain a horse to lead the cav. I would also drop Malbeth or Arvedui in favour of some more warriors, with 70 points, you could get 4 more warriors of arnor, 2 hobbit archers and another 2 KoMT. Just my 2 cents, though.

This list is illegal under the Legions of Middle Earth rules - you have too many bowmen in your Arnor contingent.

There is not much to do with Arnor lists really, you just have to max out on the warriors and archers, heroes are pretty much always the same.

It's very hero heavy for a 500 point force, but I like the theme. At a minimum, I'd drop the banner and one Knight, give the captain a horse, add more WoA (you need 3 more to be LoME legal), and give your rangers spears. Arvedui and Malbeth make a good team so it's hard to know which to drop, and if you drop the captain you can't ally in the knights...hard choices. You seem to be successful so far...if someone fields goblins you'll know how it holds up against a horde.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I just realized I was over the bow limit, I'll nix the banner and a knight and use the points to get more warriors definitely. I'm still trying to pin down a list

@fritskuhntm: Your list is really tempting, and I'd do it if not for the fact that more often than not, my rangers get thrown into the melee to support the infantry with their F4. So I'll try hobbits out but I think I'll stick with the Rangers

@whafrog: That is another thing I have been considering, however my Knights usually die in a glorious charge against overwhelming odds. I feel like the Captains battle prowess would be lost on a charge against superior odds. In my phalanx, he at least is a powerful support unit. I've seen the captain take on 2 or 3 Black Numenorians at a time and emerge successful. With Malbeth providing him another Fate save, he is a rallying point for my men. On the other hand, if he is with the Knights, their charge may not be so suicidal. I'll try it out.
Also, thanks for the compliment, I wanted to go for a Royal Army of Arnor feel, and convert the KoMT to be Knights of Arnor.

@spuds4ever: I do agree that I need to beef up my numbers somewhat. However, the Arvedui/Malbeth combo is dynamite, Malbeth's fate save slows the time until I break, and when I do, Arvedui's Stand Fast! covers the entirety of my infantry phalanx, so I can make the Abysmal Courage 2 Warriors hold their ground and speed up the battle of attrition. The Captain is necessary to Ally in the Knights, so if I drop him, I drop the Knights. I got a bulk deal on 21 warriors of Arnor models, so I could spring for another 9 or so but that is the most my poor stressed wallet can endure :/. I probably should cut a hero somewhere, but I'll be darned if I know where.

you have the capt go with the knights so that you can call a heroic move to the charge, pretty much if your gonna have 6 knights you should get a mounted capt to go with them.

your heroes are pretty necessary, malbeth is a must have, the capt is a must have for the knights, arvedui is the only one who is not a must have, but is bad not to take.... so your in a dilemma
as said drop the banner and knight and give the capt a horse, give all the rangers bows so they can support the warriors (making the most of your lowish numbers)

the knights will die if you charge right into their army, so dont. attack groups that have broken off or attack the flank as you warriors hit the front.

getting hobbit archers would be better IF you can afford it
