Yeh im not sure about the pillars either they just don't really fit in. Your rangers look great though so well done on them.
And how big is the board? i cant really tell from the pic but im thinking 2'x2' maybe?
Good luck with your art as well, I know how much of a pain art exams are. :(

@gamenhord: Cheers, yer wasn't sure about the pillars.
@Cyndra the Grey: I'll have a think about it, was just to see. Thanks on the Rangers by the way. It's 60"x47" all together, but can be split into the 3 parts as you can see.. for easier storage or just smaller battles.

the rangers look but the skin needs some depth like said If you wash it with brown and then highlight the skin around the eyes and nose with the base colour then you have some nice rangers.

About the terrain the fort looks cool but a little bit boring. The pilars is a nice idea but they don't fit. Maybe some torches on the inside and some wooden pallisades( improved by orcs).

The board looks cool and the idea is nice. But if one side is green and the other grey it looks very unrealistic. I suggest to make the whole board stone. On the side you orginally planned to do gras you can glue grass to the stones. And how closer you become to the edge how more grass. Like you are walking through osgiliath but becoming closer to the pelenor fields. And to make stones faster you can use wallpaper.

Hope this helps good luck with your art exam.

Yar I'll find some time for the Rangers, they do need a bit of tidying up. For the fort, I'm going to finish it up just like that first, take a mould & then I can do an orc theme on it - like the one they did in the GW articles.
hmm.. I can see your point about the board.. we'll see what I'll do yet. I'm still undecided. Thanks for the encouragment on the exam.. 6 hour exam, but then it is art so it's not too bad.

Yeah I agree, the faces do look like they need to be washed a little. May I also suggest trying to paint their cloaks different shades and colors.

would it be ok to put grass on the powdered stuff.

Sure it looks better when you do it that way.

I think they work better with the Gothic stone.

@Willow: yes, I think they do - looks a bit out of place there.

Thought I'd give you a heads up on the ruin, thats the brick finished. Looks pretty bland at the moment i know, but once I get myself i mould of it I can experiment a little.

Clever that you do that then you can make much different forts with the same base.

Yep that was the idea

On a side note, I finally got my new minatures I had ordered. :D I'm so pleased, so this is what will be in store over the next while. I'll get these guys nicely painted up & added to my Gondorian army. I now certainly have plenty of flags..

Cool nice stash of models you got there. Perhaps you should enter the Community WIP this month so you can get a bit more motivation if you need it.
Keep up the good work though.

I hate it to be negative but you can really do better. This really looks like a rush job. The black parts of the banner are beter off with a darker grey highlight. The white needs at least one extra thin layer to build op the colour. And his eyes are strange( if you just can't the eyes right just paint them not).

If you fix these points and make him less shiney he is a lot better.

I can see your point, and in the photo he doesn't look good. As you know, the model always looks better in real life. Had the camera on flash which doesn't do any good either. I can tone down the highlights and put an extra thin layer on the white. For the eyes, I can never do them.. always had trouble with them. I'll leave them in though

I forgot how awesome those newer Citadel Guard models look. I'm tempted to go and buy a blister!

@GildorP: hmm ok, I did go a bit over the top with highlights.. or they just need tonning down.
@gambit: Yes some of the new figures are really nice, but then again some I'm not that keen on.
