An apologies for not being very active recently, but now that the holidays have come once again I'm back to my hobby. I started building something today & it's coming out quite nicely. Nice to be back & hope to see people around.

Nice terrain. Love the way you actually made those 'support beams' in the building ;)

Thanks for the comments gents, yeah the roof turned out pretty well & I also like it. Here's a bit more I've done tonight. This model is actually a manger/crib I'm making for the church.

Do you think this could pass as a Rohan stables? (the roof will be thatched btw)

For Gondor :!: I think it would work for Gondor as well. With a tile roof maybe :?:

For me it could pass as rohan stables. But then u might have to put horse heads on the top. Don't know if u get what i got for my eyes...something like this

Just a little update again today, poped into town & got myself a nice fluffy carpet for my roof. I had some great fun shredding it up for a roof. Plenty of it for more thatched roofs to come! Also a quick question, should I keep this roof white with sparkly bits to make it more fantasy like, or stick with the golden yellows - baring in mind it's to sell at the church.

Here's the carpet thing, look at those folding skills

I'm going to try & get some detail up top like in this picture above.

Any suggestions/comments are always good.
Should I bother making this into a guide once the library is back? or is it not good enough for that?

If you detail the thatch like the photo most certainly so :!:

I vote for yellow. Good work :yay:

Well since my last update I've stuck the fake fur onto the roof & pva'd it, not much I know but oh well. A quick question about colour, should I base coat it brown first, the add yellow? This is for the thatching of course.

Thank's In Advance

There you go; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :MESELX:IT

I think I'll start building more & selling them, the thrill of getting money and that people would actually buy my thing i make always keeps me happy. I'm in the middle of building one now if you want pics :D

Just have a care how you list these things on Ebay. I used to do this kind of thing several years ago, but I got jumped on by the GW legal squad for copyright infringement - they tried to get me banned from Ebay!
Just don't use their copyrighted named terms in your item title or description - words like "Warhammer", "40k" maybe even "LOTR" - may land you in trouble!

Scott

Really? ouch, so would there be a way to sell them without using those words? because when you search in ebay those are the most likely ones.. I'll have a think about it anyway - thank's for the heads up on that one. 8)

Drum

Sure you can still make and sell them, just use generic words in title and description " terrain", "scenery", "for wargaming", "28mm" etc etc.
Note sure about Tolkien specific words but probably OK - "Gondor", "Osgiliath"??

Ebay can be quite twitchy about copyright infringement/fraud and and if some raises to their attention that you may be breaching their Intellectual Property, they'll give you a couple of warnings and then block you.
Took me several months to get back onto Ebay again...

regards
Scott

Right well I'll keep that in mind, and when selling things use alternatives. Thanks for the advice on this.

On the other hand I have a small update.

I think you need a final highlight for the thatch, equivalent to "bleached bone"
Here's mine I did a while ago...
http://scottswargaming.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
I did mine according to journey-book description but used hobby acrylics rather than expensive model paints

Hope this helps
regards
Scott

Looks good all your terrain looks ver good you are becoming better and better and I also suggest highlighting the roof with bleached bone and wash it with bestial brown but then in acrylic paints or what you use to paint buildings.

Keep on building
