if i have a f. that has 2 heros (eg: a shaman and durburz) and an enemy hero calls a duel, can he specify who its against? and if so, can i 'counter duel' by calling a duel w/ durburz and saving my shaman?

When calling a duel, the "caller" decides whom it is against and there is no way of avoiding it. Epic Cowardice is to avoid it before it's called, but not to escape it once it's happening

Actually, you can sort of avoid it. If in your example someone (let's say a Captain) called a duel on the Shaman, you could then call a duel with durburz on that Captain. Both players would then roll off to see whose duel was fought first. So, potentially, Durburz could kill the Captain before he fought his duel against the Shaman.

It's not technically avoiding the Duel, just instigating one, to have a 50-50 chance of your one succeeding. You lose the Might either way as well, so it doesn't seem worth it, lol.

well in the senariro with durburz and the shaman, its totaly worth it, as those shamans are 100pts a piece.... thats 5c worth of goblins!

I would argue that it's MORE worth it, but still risky since there is still the inherent likelihood of losing, as well as not necessarily being the successor in calling the duel to begin with.

Plus, if you don't upgrade them, it's almost 7 companies, lol

You actually have to roll of before making any heroic declarations - the opposite of SBG.

In which case it's pre-emptive and not countering

Somebody declares that the want to make a heroic.
You then roll off to see who goes first and then take it in turns to nominate a model.
Then play out the actions in the order selected.
