I have the Deluxe version.

You are right in that it has an element of Stratego to it.

The board is nice, the pieces and cards nicely made.
The gameplay is interesting enough for a little challenge.
The game tends to favour the bad guys, BUT the game is played over two goes with each player swapping sides and toting up their scores for total game score.

Its fairly simple , LOTR themed fun, and I can play it with my 7 yr old son. Games don't take very long, maybe an hour or so.

The deluxe version contains two sets of goodies and and two sets of baddies for two variants on the game. And then you can mix the two together for more variants.

There are also cards which add to the fight value of the combatants when they meet.
