It looks really great so far. You've done a really good job at giving it a worn look though you might want to try adding a scorch marks to add a little more variation to the colour of the ruin.

Thanks for the tip, but don't you worry about the colour of the ruins turn out dull. I've plenty of idea's to avoid that. I'll be placing a ruined roof on the ruin soon which has a different colour. Next there will be some moss on the walls. And don't forget the floor, which will exist from wooden planks together with destroyed pavement because of the bombardments.

I've started out with the half-destroyed roof already, just need to make some roof tiles. Colour is unknown on this point. But I understand I'll need to make different colours to avoid the point you made in your post. Thanks anyway. C&C is always welcome.

Hey nice work. As a hobbyist that also puts quite a fairly amount of time into making terrain I must say props to you! Although I'm a more 'nature' terrain maker (I have bought the 'Ruins of Osgiliath' set from GW 'cause I'm lazy), I really like it.

What is your exact goal with this? Just making some terrain or you trying to really recreate a big deal of Osgiliath? Perhaps even making a diorama?

The plan is to recreate a big deal of Osgiliath, this is just one of the many ruins. The board will contain alot buildings to recreate the atmosphere in the Lotr movies. To do so I really want to make the part of the city where Gothmog and his gang invade Osgiliath.

Looking forward to make that part since the ruins are flooded with water which makes it a challenge to make(and I like challenges). I've never tried to make water so I'll have to experiment first before I'll try something drastic like that. Update incoming.

Flooded ruins! Now that's something I'd LOVE to see 8)

I'd suggest you use scenic water with a few drops of brown paint for the 'dirty water' feel.

Lovely work so far, especially on the catapult holes in the building walls... keep us updated!

lol i just tought up something that might be cool to do. A catapult that is in the water of the ruins like it's been washed away by the water. :) Or is this to much? Ah well it's your work, surprise me :-D . Good luck.

I like the idea, but the men of Gondor would probably take
the catapult away if it was about to be washed away.
It would be more logical when they abandoned a damaged
or half ruined catapult in my opinion. Thanks for your input
didn't think of this yet. I'll put this in the 'idea box'!

Btw, I was thinking about making room in the next ruins for
deployable objectives to make the game more interesting.
Like captured Warriors of Minas Thirith or a catapult which
enables you to shoot for 2 turns before the ammo runs out
or the orcs interfeir. Or an ammo room to upgrade 4 Warriors
of Mt to Guards of the Fountain Court for example.
Give me your thoughts like Garmenhorde did!
Updates are incoming, just need to paint some things first.

Tim

Hey, what about a kind of spear-stock, you see the WoMT grabbing spears from a kinda stock in the movie, maybe syou could do that. Just add the spears to it(not glue them) and when a fig picks one up, you just put one on his base. A stable would also be very logical, because they escaped oSGILIATH by using horses

Thanks for your input, appreciated! Will consider putting your idea's in my board. Thanks again!

Well guys it took a bit longer then I expected but the
new update is here. I had a few problems, first
where to place the stairs to the first level and how
to make it look good. I probably wasted an hour
or two staring at the ruin thinking what to do.
I tried (made) several options but they didn't turn out
the way I hoped for. Aside the starring it just takes an
hell of alot of time to make one simple wall let alone 3-4
which I've. Anyway enough talking, the pics:

Image

Close up of a carved piece of wall to show you guys
the stages they go through before they're ready to be
gluid at my ruin. This is stage 1.

Image

As you can see at the picture above I prefer making
and carving everything, while they aren't gluid together.
It's just easier for me to paint when they reach 'stage 2'.

Image

All pieces painted, it's probably one big puzzle for you guys at this point haha. But I probably placed all pieces a dozen of times on their right
places to see if it looked good, which makes it alot easier for me ofcourse.

Image

A small sneak peak of the roof. I just need to add roof
tiles and a bit of paint.

Image

An picture of the inteir inner wall, for those who
followed the previous updates might see what changed.
For those who didn't. I placed an hole new floor on the
left side together with the broken wall beneath.
On the right I placed the stairs. Beneath the stairs is a doorway, something I came up with while starring at it actually and
I think it turned out awesome. I would like to hear your opinion about it.

Image

I made the picture bigger on purpose, because the smaller
version didn't show what I would like you to see. Note that
it's still not 100% finished, it needs a bit of paint here and
there and I might change a thing too if I don't like something.

Image

The doorway in all his glory, mini's can be placed
under the stairs ofcourse. Up next, the roof!
Next update probably wont come anytime soon though,
I have an introduction week of my university next week.

Anyway, let me know if you like it!

Tim

The stairs look very nice, how well do minis stay in place on them? The passageway under the stairs was a great idea as is the broken down wall. Keep it up.
