So a dry brush of the powdery green stuff you mean?

No, he doesn't "really have to". It's his choice. Personally, I think it looks great, and fits perfectly. 8)

Looks wicked. 8) :yay: And yes I meant a drybrush of the powdery green stuff, or a wash, just to add depth. But anyway it is very nicely done.

Thank's for the comments guys! & I'll give it that dry brush next Saturday - for I have exams atm & I really should be spending my time revising rather than building Helm's Deep, but oh well :D

I added the Minas of Moria pillars because with nothing there it looks rather empty.. & I didn't think they looked that bad really..

The bottom of the mountain (where it's very light) is going to have another coat of darker colour like similar to the mountain up top. It'll be slightly more grassy, should i use static grass on some area's?
And if so should i make it stick up? you know with static.

I have a really smart method of doing it  (actually it's just rubbing a balloon off my head so it creates static electricity lol)

Other builders have put statues (maybe some sort of Lord of the Rings 54mm miniatures) where those MoM pillars went.

But... beyond that...?

That's truly amazing. Truly.

It is a rooster... you know, like Foghorn leghorn?

Wait 'til you see, he has started a new craze - photo your minis with exotic animals in the background... now, where did I put that piranha?

The mountain is a lot better. It fits in with the stones very well and the addition of the foliage makes it look just like a real mountain. From the beginning I knew that this piece was going to turn out well but it has turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Great work, I look forwards to seeing it all completed.

Thank's for the comments, very kind of you.. the next part is to paint the back of the hornburgh - yes that's right the bit you don't see in those pictures :P

I'm going to paint the sides of the foamboard the same colour as the hornburgh so it fits in a bit better. The next part is going to be the detail.. hanging shields, spear rackets, barrels etc...

Well due to family issues I've found in increasingly difficult to find time for my favourite hobby. It's soon the holidays so by then, hopefully i should get more done. I'm really into the terrain now more than anything else, tho i do like the odd game or two with friends. Here's a few pictures of several projects I've barely started.

You've gotten to a nice start. I'm looking forwards to seeing more of them.
I hope all the issues come to a good resolution.

Any idea's what brick effect I could use for the church? I thought of the milliput stuff, but it would take up too much, be very heavy & rather expensive... Maybe a few cardboard bricks scattered around might do the trick, but would it look a bit fake like?

Another option could be to paint it heavily & add some paint texture (a tube of thickener so you can see the brush strokes..

Any other options.. & which would be best?
