Wouldn't it be useful to equip a wood-elf banner bearer with an elven-cloak?

I'm guessing yes?

Well, it makes an expensive unit even more expensive. Also, if the banner bearer does happen to get killed, but you have someone pick the up banner the new banner bearer will not have an elven cloak.

No, a banner bearer cannot have any equipment other than a steed or armour - page 47 banners. Besides, how can a model hide when waving a ruddy great flag above its head? :)

I'd count the Cloak under armour; after all, he doesn't need a hand to carry it!

IMHO, I would give it to him-you don't want him to get shot down.

Same here it's a cloak you don't need to hands to use it.

Besides the elves are crafty enough to make a banner "blend" into the surroundings but still viable enough for themselves to see it.

I've played it a few time my self and found it quite handy in keeping the banner safe from would be archer assassins.

Yes, you don't need to use your hands to wear an cloak, but, as hithero pointed out, how could someone hide while they're trying to keep a flag visible for their allies?

So, lets get this right, some of you say the banner bearer can have the cloak but the rules say you can't - have you not read the rule? :?

If this is the wording, then a cloak would not be allowed. Armour would only refer to armour, otherwise they would have made a note of it. The only working interpretation of the rules is a literal one. Sometimes GW get it wrong, but that's what FAQs are for.

No, that is not possible.
