This thread didn't get as much attention. Given the discussion in the other elf threads, I'm wondering a couple of things:

- whether we should revert to the basic GW elf profile (eg: boost Fight to 5)? This will allow them to match elites and heroes in any other faction.

- do they cause Terror? The "elves' bright eyes" seem to have made many an evil creature quail in fear. Or maybe a special Terror rule that is only effective if the elf is not already in a fight?

- are their any special rules that can give these guys a bit more flavour? We have Terror and Resistance for Noldor, and Unerring Shot for Sylvan elves...archer phalanx seems like an interesting tactical option, but it's use would be pretty limited and not worth a point.

Sindar equipment options would be dependent upon location. Lothlorien would have access to the current Galadhrim list, Sindar in Eregion, Rivendell and the Grey Havens would also have heavy armour available.

Sindar also make up the ruling class of Sylvan populations (ie: Thranduil is a Sindar), so we'll need to consider that when creating heroes.

Sindar should be the GW standard elf profile in my opinion, but where's the fun in that?

Fight 4 or 5 is okay for me, because most elfs are great fighters (at least in the books)

Hm, they cause some sort of terror indeed, but I think it needs to be some special rule. Because in the game courage test are killing orcs(and goblins etc). And well, I don't think orcs start fleeing when they see an elf:P
-Maybe the orcs could get an other penalty such as a -1F to represent they're scared, but not scared enough to flee.

Do you mean -1 to their Fight score, or -1 to the die roll?

Well, -1 to their Fight score has no impact, as they are already lower than elves'. -1 to the die roll is just nasty :)

@BaruKhazad: This is a little off topic, but it sounds like you may have misinterpreted the rules for charging terrifying opponents. If you fail your courage test when charging something which is terrifying, you don't flee. The model must stop 1"/2cm from the terrifying opponent, and may move no further that turn (counts as having used full movement).

If I misunderstood your comment, then I am truly sorry. In that case, please disregard this post.

To represent the orc's/goblin's fear, but allow the courage of numbers:

"Quelling Eyes: When orcs or goblins are involved in a one-on-one close combat with a Sindar, they suffer -1 to their roll to win the fight due to their reluctance to face the elf up close."

Think uruk-hai would be excluded as they are more hardy versions.

We should keep special rules to a minimum...banners, fight values, strength boosts, etc that we've already put into the profiles already make Sindar elves superior to orcses. Adding special rules to regular warriors are difficult to remember during gameplay and could have unforseen effects.

For example, if an orc takes a penalty when in close combat with an elf, how do they have a chance when their only hope is to get into combat and avoid Elven bowfire?

Warrior profiles should have 2 or 3 rules at the most. Save special rules for heroes.
