It all depends on what your gaming group prefers. The scenarios in it are mostly excellent, and the army lists help eliminate a lot of "cheese." I've never looked at it, sighed, and wished I'd gotten another box of minis instead. Having said that though, it's standard in my gaming group and I'd feel out of the loop not owning it. Your situation may very well be different.
