The face lacks depth and a wash could help with this. You could use either but not too much as the skin should still be quite fair as he is an elf. If you use a darker wash you will have to be very care full as to not apply too much so a lighter wash would probably work better in this case. You could also darken it and then build up highlights afterwards, then a darker wash could be more useful.

Thanks for all the comments as it would have looked a lot worse without them.

Now I'm working on ebobs townsfolk I'll post pics as soon as possible but I don't think I can paint it to the same quality as this one.(it's me not the sculpt that is the problem)

Great work. The details are very well done. I can't believe you got the eyes that well!! I'm surely looking forwards to seeing your next project.

I was really lucky with the eyes they are just air bubles that excidently got on the right place. :-D

Here's my work on the inkeeper.
Image
Right now he looks horrible but so did cirdan in the begining.
I know it isn't entirely gw lotr but I thought that it's a bit over the top to start a non lotr wip just for 5 minis that all blend in very well with the gw ones.

Comments and criticism are most welcome.

And how do you get pictures larger than 320,480 with photobucket.
(I did cirdan with imageshack but that takes an age to upload)

Thanks elessar. :D

I've done a bit more work today on ebob's sculpt
Image.
As you can see there is still a lot to do.
The highlights on his trousers look like camouflage but I'll fix that.

C&C are most welcome.

Great work so far. The highlighting is good but the face needs some more work. I wish I were as lucky when it came to eyes, maybe it will happen. Good luck.

I've done a bit more work on the inn and a statue but I'm once more getting ill. :(
First up is a picture of the horrible mess I'm working in. (perhaps that's wy i'm ill that often  )
Image
a couple pictures of the board.
Image
The inn will have two levels(verdiepingen?) of wich the second level will be build half on the wooden frame.
Image
And one of the statue.
Image
It's very simple but I think it will be evective.

And one of my painting place

It looks great so far. I took me a moment before I realized the statue was broken on purpose. I'm looking forwards to seeing more of it.

Thanks for the comments.

It took some time but here's another update. :D

First up is the river section of the board.
Image
Image
It needs a few more coats of farnish.

And I want some trees near the river.
they still need foilage and basing.
Image

This is the project of wich I took a break by making this board.
I'll probably finish it next summer.
Image

And here's the mini i just started to paint.
ImageImage
It's a beautifull sculpt from ebob but I can't paint that long at the moment because it's to cold.
(It's -10 degrees celsius where I paint because there is no (working) central heating down there and my mother is alergic to the paint so I can't paint inside the house) :(

But the holiday is great and I think more updates will come in the following days.

Ps are these pictures to large?

The water looks really realistic. The other board looks really nice as well. I never thought of paint freezing, are there any side effects like the bottles breaking or damage to the paints?

My paint hasn't frozen yet because I keep it inside of the house when I don't paint but my fingers are shanking to much to paint very long.
And the water pipes have frozen sollid. :o
And it takes a very long time before one layer of farnish is dry. :)

Edit:small update

I've done a bit more work one the mini.
I got a 0x5 brush for sinterklaas and I must say it works like a dream.
Image
But there's a small problem with my workspace............
The boiler exploded so, half the floor plus the gameboard was flooded. :?
(i've been busy cleaning up for an hour)
Now I really hope that the gameboard will survive this.

The jewelry and hair look good. The highlights on the clothe are too extreme. You could try giving it a wash or adding some intermediate layers. I've just started to get reasonable results with layering but thinning down the paints has really helped. It seams too thin at first but once you add a couple layers it looks fine.

Thanks for the comments.

@ dloel: the mini is still very much wip.
I always make my highlights very large and only after that i will tone them down and make the fine highlights.

but your correct about the blob of paint on the cloth

@ elessar I'll post some pictures tommorow but its freeeezing.
(perhaps this evening)

And finally the kitchensink works again and the waterdamage is limited :D

Sorry, I'll hold my tongue. I'll being looking forwards to it when its done. You've done some pretty nice work and I trust this one will be the same. You seam to be quite good with terrain, which extends to your great bases. I'll be waiting to see how osgiliath turns out, how ever long it takes.
