Your initiation into the Cult of Wash is almost complete...

Although, I don't think it worked to well on the Elves. The rest is looking good though.

Nice update James and some great miniatures! 8)
Ugluk looks particularly good, mind sharing the colour scheme for his skin? :)

Thanks all!

Ugluks skin.

just codex grey, and codex grey and white highlights, and finally white highlights (water it down or it shows too much), then merge it all together with a few washes (badab black or devlan mud. SURPRISE SURPRISE)

Hey all, Another update.

Got this mini from warlord games. The celtic army standard bearer. I am planning on making him into a Rohan Banner bearer. he is holding a human head - painted green it should be fine...

Any comments, advice ideas on the conversion welcome before i start.

thanks

Looks fabulous James, the picture you've posted actually does it a lot more justice than that one on their website.

I think if you had an actual Rohirrim Banner Bearer and stole the banner from him then it'd look fantastic, but that'd mean buying another model (unless you aleady have one in the backlog somewhere).

funny that, i thought it showed less: metal + flash = fail

yeah i thought that, but it would be painful to buy my £1.80 celtic banner bearer and chop up the GW one to make him into one. Was supposed to be budget

will probs be paper...

Thanks

I think it might be the paintjob on Warlord games picture, I don't like their paintjob at all :P

Looks very good James, I usually don't like paper banners but you've managed to get the blowing in the wind look really effectively.

I think you should have replaced the Boar top with a little horse.

One thing that I've noticed (and I'm being very nitpicky here) is just above the hand where the banner is, it is a bit wonky and misshapen. Not a huge problem, just it's been bugging me what was wrong with it :P

thanks chaps

Jake, you know metal poles really are a pain sometimes...best just to leave it rather than risk snapping it.

John. my skills aren't that advance  The idea did come to mind though

The Ancient British Cavalry box comes with a couple of metal standards topped off with a little horse and some wolf tails.

Very nice work on the banner conversion, James. Usually I'm not a fan of home made banners, but this one is shaping up to be really good. 8)

Josh. Cheers :)

John. yeah it undoubtedly would look amazing with a little horse. But tbh, i shant buy an entire box of other manufacturers minis unless i could truly use them in lotr (somewhat feel at home is what i am aiming for) which is obviously gonna be hard to acheive in a number of cases.
