You can also see the slot/tab join on the bases, you should seriously consider using sand.

If you don't want that much texture (it looks like you're going for a "slab of stone" look) then consider cutting the tabs off suture models and sticking them onto solid bases - ideally the slotless ones if you can get them, but if you can't a touch of filler will do, and you can cover the injection mark with it at the same time.

The goblins themselves are looking good, I like the armour.

I meant on the whole base, it looks as though your sand is only in patches.

Yeah, I probably should've been a bit clearer. ;)

It's literally where the plastic was injected into the mould, it leaves a little indentation/bump behind. It's similar to the flues you get on metal models.

These aren't the standard gw bases though? My bases don't have those injection marks? :?

you get these bases on newer boxed sets. or sets which are still in production (like seeing a 'fighting uruk hai' set with a blue box rather than the two towers red scheme which it was at the time of release.)

You find them on the bases that come in bags, as opposed to the ones that come 4 to a sprue.

They also have a slightly different lip, and just look greasier.

what I shall do is just tidy the edges with a nice coat of codex grey. As for the injection marks John, I shall probably glue some slate bits over the top or something. will keep you warhounds updated...

I love the base, but there are massive gaps there.

as you can see, there has been minimal activity here. Mainly due to the packing of boxes because i am moving house this weekend.

As you can guess I will lose my connection temporarily (was that a cheer i heard Sean?).

So lets hope i can get the new connection running soon enough. The target will be in time for the ToG 2010 anyway...

using the dead inspirationally (Necrophile!), I am planning on making a sort of 'diorama'. Its gonna be lots of dead people everywhere from a skirmish. All will be mounted onto a single 'base' so it could be an objective place or whatever in a game.

the parts:

(these were all painted quickly about 2 years ago, so i will be repainting them no worries.) this is just a 'before i get cracking shot'.

Nice minis James. Remember to file the back of your minis flat before putting them on the diorama, it looks much better then.

Btw, do you mind sharing the colours you used for your previous goblins? :)

I think the key was to just coat him in a few washes of badab black at the end to make him dark and grimey - and rather goblin-esque.
